    摘要: The invention relates to a brake system that can be operated in four modes, i.e. a mode which is independent of the driver's will, an unboosted mode operated by physical strength, a hydraulically boosted mode, and an electronically regulated mode. Said brake system comprises a master cylinder (1), a first piston (2) that is coupled to a brake pedal (3), a second piston (4) actuating the master cylinder (1), and a third piston (5) which can be actuated by the first piston (2). At least one elastic element (6, 7) is provided between the first and the third piston (5) while all three pistons (2, 4, 5) are disposed in a housing (8). The inventive brake system further comprises a hydraulic pressure source (9) and a valve unit (10) for reducing the pressure generated by the pressure source (9) to a pressure value that is fed into an intermediate space (11) by means of which the second piston (4) and the third piston (5) are separated from each other in such a way that the third piston (5) is impinged in the direction extending opposite the direction of impingement of the second piston (4) with the aid of the pressure acting upon the second piston (4). According to the invention, a valve member (13) of the valve unit (10) is embodied such that the two faces thereof are subjected to the effect of the pressure prevailing in the intermediate space (11).

The elastic body (167,167') is formed into a tubular shape so as to come into resilient contact with an inner circumference of the control piston (90) by expanding its diameter under the action of axial compressive force generatedby forward movement of the input member (166). Consequently, the brake stroke simulator (14) allows large hysteresis width in relationship between brake operating stroke and operating load.

    摘要: A brake booster (11, 83) amplifies driver brake pedal input into an output force and travel for operating a master cylinder. A power unit (55, 129) builds and stores high pressure fluid to provide boost. Inlet (59, 133, 139) and outlet (81, 135) solenoid valves regulate pressurized fluid to the amplifying mechanism. In one embodiment, a single boost chamber (21) provides fluid pressure to operate the master cylinder and to provide a brake pressure indicative opposing force to driver input. One travel sensor (29) monitors the position and movement of an input rod and piston (23), and a second travel sensor (31) monitors the position and movement of an output piston (15). An ECU (63, 143) monitors system parameters and controls a motor pump (77), inlet (59, 133) and outlet (81, 135, 139) valves and peripherals. In another embodiment, the opposing force to the brake pedal input is provided by a separate pressure fluid chamber (111) located within and movable with the output piston (87). Boost chamber pressure and, optionally, output piston travel are monitored to provide a braking force indication. An ECU (143) monitors system parameters including input travel (115) and boost chamber pressure (141), and controls the inlet (133, 139) and outlets valves (135) and peripherals.
