The present invention relates to a modular leakage protection device (10) for a fluid container of a vehicle brake system. The modular leakage protection device (10) comprises a housing (12), by means of which the modular leakage protection device (10) can be attached to a fluid discharge opening (508) of the fluid container (500), and a switching element (16), which can be moved between an open position, in which a fluid passage in the housing (12) is released, and a closed position, in which the fluid passage is closed. The switching element (16) is preloaded into the closed position by means of at least one preloading means (14).
