摘要: This disclosure relates to preventing over-delivery of a drug and related systems and methods. In certain aspects, a method is performed by a data processing apparatus. The method includes receiving, from a drug delivery device, information pertaining to a desired amount of fluid to be delivered by the drug delivery device and receiving information pertaining to a delivered amount of a fluid that has been delivered by the drug delivery device. The method also includes determining that the delivered amount satisfies a predetermined threshold amount and in response to the determination, detecting whether an initial amount of fluid provided to the drug delivery device corresponds to the desired amount of fluid to be delivered.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for predicting/estimating the dry weight of an individual, e.g., a patient undergoing dialysis treatment, are provided. The techniques employ a bioimpedance measurement (303) on the individual's calf (101) to obtain information regarding the extracellular fluid volume of the calf. Using a measurement of the calf's circumference (309), a resistivity value is calculated, normalized by the individual's body mass index (BMI), and then offset by a reference value to obtain a new variable, DeltanRho, which is shown, by comparison with a "gold standard" (FIGS. 5-9), to be highly effective in predicting/estimating dry weight (FIGS. 10-13 and 15-16). The techniques are easy to use and provide accurate dry weight predictions/estimations without substantially adding to the complexity or cost of dialysis procedures. The techniques can also be used for individuals who are not renal patients, e.g., patients suffering from other diseases in which fluid overload can occur, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and the like.

摘要: An extracorporeal blood treatment system includes means for withdrawing blood from a patient, and means for transporting the blood through a calcium trap. The calcium trap includes a substrate having an immobilized species, the species being adapted to reduce the calcium concentration in the blood to a concentration that prevents blood clotting in the extracorporeal blood treatment system, thereby producing calcium-depleted blood. The extracorporeal blood treatment system also includes means for treating the calcium-depleted blood downstream of the calcium trap by an extracorporeal blood treatment device, thereby producing treated calcium- depleted blood, means for infusing calcium into the treated calcium-depleted blood downstream of the extracorporeal blood treatment device to add calcium to the treated calcium-depleted blood, and means for returning treated blood back to the patient.

摘要: A peritoneal dialysis device displays on a graphical interface a plurality of parameters and any values currently assigned to the parameters, and in response to a user selecting one of the displayed parameters, allows the user to input a value to be assigned to one of the parameters. A value is set for a number of fills parameter or a dwell time parameter based on the value received from the user. Parameter values are set in a peritoneal dialysis device by receiving from a user a selection of a therapy type, receiving from a user values for a plurality of parameters, calculating a value for a plurality of additional parameters based on the values received from the user, determining whether values for one or more of the plurality of parameters or one or more of the additional parameters do not meet one or more criteria, and, if necessary, updating one or more of the values received from the user so that all of the values for the plurality of parameters and the additional parameters meet all the criteria.
