A method of forming a plastic material by using a mold 30 that has a split-mold structure forming air vent 39 in the split surfaces which are the butt surfaces of split molds, the air vent 39 being communicated with gas passages 37, wherein a resin is fed into the mold 30 so as to be formed, and after the formed article is taken out from the mold but before the rein is fed into the mold 30 so as to be formed in the next cycle, a cleaning gas G is fed through the gas passages 37 into the air vent 39 in a state where there is formed at least part of the mold 30 inclusive of the air vent 39, the cleaning gas G being discharged through passages separate from the gas passages 37. The method is capable of effectively preventing the oligomers from building up in the vent groove and, therefore, automatically executing the cleaning without the need of halting the forming cycle.

A curable resin composition comprising a curable resin in which ultrafine metal particles modified with a fatty acid are dispersed. The ultrafine metal particles are the fatty acid-modified ultrafine metal particles having a fatty acid coordinated on the surfaces of the ultrafine metal particles and a glyceride coordinated round the fatty acid or on the surfaces of the ultrafine metal particles. The curable resin composition contains the ultrafine metal particles that are dispersed well, permits the metal such as silver having antibacterial power to be efficiently eluted therein, exhibits excellent antibacterial power, and can be favorably produced.

A gas-barrier laminate 10 of a structure in which a first inorganic barrier layer 3, a water-trapping layer 5 and a second inorganic barrier layer 9 are provided in this order on a plastic base material 1, wherein the water-trapping layer 5 is a layer in which a granular moisture-absorbing agent is dispersed in a matrix of an ionic polymer, the granular moisture-absorbing agent being capable of absorbing moisture to a degree lower than that attained by the matrix, and an organic layer 7 is provided between the water-trapping layer 5 and the second inorganic barrier layer 9, the organic layer 7 serving as an underlying layer for forming the second inorganic barrier layer. The water-trapping layer has excellent barrier property against water and is, at the same time, effectively suppressed from swelling despite it has absorbed moisture. The water-trapping layer is, further, effectively suppressed from losing its activity.

Provided is a surface-treated steel sheet with a compound layer containing F and composed essentially or Zr at least on one surface thereof, wherein the Zr amount is 80 to 350 mg/m 2 and the F amount is 0.5 to 10 mg/m 2 within the layer, and an organic resin coated metal container manufactured using the surface-treated steel sheet. The surface-treated steel sheet of the present invention is manufactured through forming a layer having the Zr amount of 80 to 350 mg/m 2 at least on one surface of a steel sheet by cathode electrolytic treatment in an aqueous solution containing a Zr ion and F ion, and subsequently adjusting the surface to control the F amount to 0.5 to 10 mg/m 2 by one or more treatments selected from immersion and spraying with an ion-containing aqueous solution and cathode electrolytic treatment in the ion-containing aqueous solution.

A cup-type container obtained by compression-forming a thermoplastic resin and including at least a flange portion, a body portion and a bottom portion, wherein a ratio (L/D) of the height of the container to the diameter of the opening is not less than 1.0, and if the direction of height of a test piece cut out from the body portion of the container is denoted by x and the circumferential direction thereof by y, a half-value width P at a half peak of a Miller index at a diffraction angle 2 ¸ = 14.5° that represents the diffraction by the crystal plane (110), is in a range of 1.25 to 1.5 over the whole body portion in a peak intensity profile in the direction of height (x-direction) of a Debye's ring obtained by measuring the diffraction intensities by causing the X-rays to be incident on an x-y plane of the test piece at right angles thereto. The cup-type container is evenly oriented in the direction of height of the container and in the circumferential direction thereof, has an even strength in all directions and has excellent heat resistance. The invention, further, provides a method of forming the cup-type container.

Provided is a pinhole inspection apparatus for can bodies capable of effectively preventing entrance of ambient light to a photodetector side through a gap between a movable plate and a rotating turret that may be formed due to a surface condition or the like. Also provided is a pinhole inspection apparatus for can bodies capable of detecting pinholes with an even smaller diameter by using a high brightness light source. The pinhole inspection apparatus of the present invention includes: a rotating turret having a penetrating through hole; a movable plate provided on a stationary frame opposite the rotating turret; a can body holding member supporting a can body; a photodetector detecting light leaking inside the can body; and a light source irradiating the can body with light. The pinhole inspection apparatus is characterized in that a detour path formed by a pair of shield parts spaced apart a predetermined distance and opposite from each other is provided as a shield mechanism in an entire outer peripheral region of the rotating turret.
