La production de ces gaz chauds est assurée par des moyens d'injection de combustible (26, 29) placés à la partie supérieure des cloisons à contre courant (26, 29) de la veine gazeuse comburante, ce qui permet d'améliorer de façon importante la répartition de la température et la précision de la régulation. Le dispositif s'applique, en particulier, à la cuisson des anodes en carbone utilisées dans les cellules d'électrolyse de l'aluminium.

They are made through a process comprising separately compacting carbon binder materials, one of which contains superhard crystals, into a cutting tool insert configuration when the crystals are concentrated in the cutting edges, infiltrating the insert with liquid silicon and sintering and nitriding the insert to convert the silicon to silicon carbide and silicon nitride.

Process for making sintered silicon carbide composites containing diamond crystals at desired surface locations. The process comprises:
(a) forming a first dispersion of diamond crystals and carbon black in paraffin; (b) forming a second dispersion of carbon fiber, carbon black and filler in paraffin; (c) compacting one of said dispersions to produce a physically stable intermediate compact; (d) recompacting said intermediate with the remaining dispersion to produce a binary compact; (e) subjecting said binary compact to a vacuum for a period of time at a temperature sufficient to vaporize essentially all of said paraffin; (f) infiltrating said binary compact with liquid silicon, and (g) sintering the binary compact containing infiltrated silicon under conditions sufficient to produce a 0-silicon carbide binder uniting the resultant composite.
These composites may be formed in a variety of specialized shapes and a particularly useful as cutting materials and/or wear components, where they exhibit extreme wear resistance.

(a) forming a first dispersion of diamond crystals and carbon black in paraffin; (b) forming a second dispersion of carbon fiber, carbon black and filler in paraffin; (c) compacting said dispersions together to produce an integral bi-layer composite; (d) subjecting said composite to a vacuum for a period of time at a temperature sufficient to vaporize essentially all of said paraffin; (e) heating silicon to cause liquefaction and direct infiltration into both layers of said composite; and (f) sintering the composite containing silicon under conditions sufficient to produce a β-silicon carbide binder uniting said composite.
The resultant composites are particularly useful as cutting materials and/or wear components, where they exhibit extreme wear resistance.

The invention relates to coke comprising additives, characterised in that additives are accumulated at the yield points or in the regions surrounded by the yield points. For homogeneous distribution, the additives are continuously dosed into the delayed coker during the filling time. The dosing can be carried out by powdery blowing with an inert gas (nitrogen) or also distributed in a slurry consisting of the reaction components and a partial flow of the coker feed (vacuum resid, pytar, decant oil or coal-tar distillates). According to an advantageous form of embodiment, the additives have a diameter of between 0.05 mm and 5 mm, preferably between 1 mm and 3 mm. Advantageously, the additives are selected from the group consisting of acetylene coke, fluid coke, flexi coke, shot coke, carbon black, non-graphitisable carbons (chars), non-graphitic anthracite, silicon carbide, titanium carbide, titanium diboride or mixtures thereof. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is increased tenfold by the addition of the additives, depending on the size and quantity of the additives.
