Abstract:
An electrophoretic coatable sealant composition for use in assembling automobile bodies comprising an adhesive material selected from the group consisting of epoxys, urethanes, epoxy-urethane hybrids, acrylics, epoxy-acrylic hybrids, polyvinylchlorides and mixtures thereof and a conductive filler in an amount such that the sealant composition will accept electrophoretic deposition of a primer composition yet preserve the adhesive properties of the sealant composition. The conductive filler is selected from the group consisting of non-treated furnace-type conductive carbon blacks.
Abstract:
The invention provides a pressure sensitive adhesive composition suitable for skin contact and comprising a polymer, copolymer or mixture of polymers and/or copolymers and optionally usual additives, and further comprising 1-20 % by weight, based on the total amount of the composition, of at least one silane compound. Preferably the silane compound contains at least one amino functional group. Further the invention relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive tape and medical accesories provided with the above described adhesive composition.
Abstract:
An adhesive composition containing biological calcium compound as an adhesion improver. The biological calcium compound can be selected from, for example, hydroxyapatite, seashells and egg shells. The adhesive composition can give good adhesion to metals without surface pretreatment.
Abstract:
A glue is disclosed which comprises a solution of at least one water-insoluble synthetic organic polymer, such as PVC or ABS, in a solvent which essentially consists of one or several compounds selected from the group consisting of 5- or 6-membered water-miscible lactones or lactams having a melting point of at the most -10 DEG C, a boiling point of at least 200 DEG C and a flash point of at least 90 DEG C, such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone or gamma -butyrolactone. The polymer or polymers may be present in a concentration of between 0.5 and 50%, in particular about 10% by weight. … The glue may be used at tropical temperatures without problems arising from solvent vapours and without fire risks. The glue is particularly useful for gluing soft PVC articles to hard PVC articles without loss of the sort character of the sort PVC, and for gluing different polymers, such as PVC on polycarbonate or polycarbonate on polyacrylate.
Abstract:
An improved magnetic sealant is disclosed wherein the improvement comprises the introduction of magnetizable particles having a particle size of about 150 microns or larger into the resin. It has been found that the larger particle sizes allows for the introduction of increased amounts of magnetic particles into the resin without the loss of flow properties. This results in a sealant which will have strong magnetic properties but will be an effective sealant for irregular surfaces as well as smooth ones. Also disclosed is a method for making the sealant and a method for using it.
Abstract:
Adhesive resins are filled with carbon fibers that have a three-dimensional structure. The fibers have variable lengths and widths. The fiber filled adhesive exhibits high thermal conductivity values. Electronic systems having components bonded by a layer of these adhesive resins have high through-the-thickness thermal conductivity.
Abstract:
Improved bonding agent comprises a reaction product or mixture of an epoxyalkylalkoxysilane and a polyamine, and a resin composition comprising as the main ingredient conventional synthetic resin or synthetic rubber and the bonding agent as set forth above, which has excellent adhesion, particularly durability of adhesion, and is useful as an adhesive or a paint.
Abstract:
An electrically conductive pressure sensitive adhesive is provided which is prepared by incorporating a conductive black filler into a pressure sensitive adhesive in such a manner as to impart electrical conductivity at a carbon concentration low enough to avoid adversely affecting the physical properties (such as tack) of the adhesive. By practice of the present invention, the carbon particles present in the adhesive are in the form of a carbon structure which optimizes the efficient employment of carbon by providing conductive pathways through the adhesive.
Abstract:
An actinic radiation-reactive pressure-sensitive adhesive composition can be cured in air at a high speed, without irritation and bad smell, and comprises
① a pressure-sensitive adhesive organic compound, and ② an actinic radiation-curable resin comprising (1) one or more polythiol compounds and (2) one or more polyene compounds each having at least two actinic radiation-reactive carbon-to-carbon double bonds in the molecule.
Abstract:
Medical grade adhesive compositions comprising a homogeneous blend of one or more pressure sensitive adhesive materials and one or more natural or synthetic polymers capable of developing elastomeric properties when hydrated such as gluten and long chain polymers of methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid are disclosed. The compositions may also include one or more water soluble hydrocolloid gums and may additionally contain one or more water swellable cohesive strengthening agents.
