Abstract:
The present invention provides a thermosetting coating composition having a storage stability sufficient to be formed into a one-pack coating despite a small content of organic solvent contained therein and having a sufficient curability, and a method of forming a coating film by which the content of the organic solvent present in a coating at the time of application can be reduced. A thermosetting coating composition comprising a component (a) having a number average molecular weight of 300 to 3000 and two or more active methylene group and/or active methine groups per molecule, a component (b) having a number average molecular weight of 200 to 3000 and two or more α,β-unsaturated carboxylic ester groups per molecule, a component (c) having an onium salt, a component (d) having an epoxy group and/or 5-membered ring carbonate group and a component (e) being an organic acid, a phenol or a Lewis acid, wherein a solid content of said coating composition at a viscosity of 100 mPa·s is 50% by weight or more at 20°C.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a coating composition containing 1) a carbamate-functional resin having in its structure a hyperbranched or star polyol core, a first chain extension based on a polycarboxylic acid or anhydride, a second chain extension based on an epoxy containing compound, and having carbamate functional groups on the core, the second chain extension, or both; and 2) a second resin containing functional groups reactive with the carbamate groups on the carbamate-functional resin. In one embodiment, the coating compositions are used as a clearcoat to be applied over a basecoat to form a composite coating. The compositions exhibit a combination of desirable properties, such as scratch and mar resistance, resistance to environmental etch, good intercoat adhesion, and high solids.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polymer containing phosphor for coating dielectric materials, to a method for its production, to its use, to an optical signal transducer coated with said polymer and to the use thereof.
Abstract:
Coating compositions contain a polymer and a silane, the polymer having at least one reactive group and at least one hydrazide group. The silane can be selected from the group consisting of silanes and polysilanes. Optionally, the coating composition includes a pigment. Coatings made from such compositions are also described. Methods of preparing a coating by applying the coating composition to a substrate and curing to form a film are also described herein.
an organic compound (A) having a primary or a secondary amino group in a molecule thereof; and an organic compound (B) having a functional group reactable with said amino group in a molecule thereof. The organic compound (A) contains an organic polymer, preferably a polyethyleneimine. The coating composition further contains an organometallic compound.
Abstract:
A method of preparing hydroxyalkylcarbamates from six-membered cyclic carbonates. The method involves reacting a six-membered cyclic carbonate with anhydrous ammonia or aqueous ammonium hydroxide. The present invention also provides for hydroxyalkylcarbamates prepared from six-membered cyclic carbonates, and for coating compositions comprising hydroxyalkylcarbamates prepared according to the present invention.
Abstract:
Two types of aminotriazine-based crosslinking agents are provided. Both crosslinking agents include the ungelled reaction product of (A) a reactive urethane group-containing reaction product and (B) an aminotriazine compound having one or less non-alkylated NH bond per triazine ring. The reactive urethane group-containing reaction product (A) is the reaction product of (1) a polyester polyol, and (2) a mono-isocyanate, for the first agent and the reaction product of (1) a polyisocyanate and (2) a monohydric capping agent for the second agent. Both crosslinking agents are essentially free of urethane NH functionality; the first has a glass transition temperature of at least 25 °C and the second has a glass transition temperature of at least 10 °C. Methods for making and using these crosslinking agents are also provided.
