A method for enforcing template usage or completion when entering a content item into a content management system may include providing a set of content authoring templates. Then the content item may be categorized as a content type. A set of templates (from the plurality of content authoring templates) may be chosen for the user based on the content type. The set of templates may be presented to the user to describe the content item. In one embodiment, the categorizing may be based on a position of the content item within a content taxonomy. In one embodiment, a pre-defined content authoring workflow for enforcing full completion of the chosen set of templates may be used. Such a workflow may include a series of steps for content authoring that are scheduled and executed using user tasks. A personal work stack may be provided to the user, which supplies the user with the user tasks to complete and information on the state of completion for the chosen set of templates. In one embodiment, template usage may be enforced when entering a content item into a content management system. To ensure completeness when publishing information on products and services after the group of templates is provided to the user(s), pieces of content for the templates may be received. In one embodiment, it may be determined if the received pieces of content satisfy a predetermined criteria establishing publication readiness. Publication may be prohibited in one embodiment until the predetermined criteria is satisfied. Once the criteria is met, a publisher may request publication (such as perhaps with a single click of a computer mouse). Once this occurs, the information from the group of components and corresponding templates may be automatically published to a user interface without further interaction from the publisher.

The segmentation process groups customers with similar characteristics into segments. The segments may be used to classify customers according to a likelihood of the customers to accept a particular marketing offer. A multi-dimensional segmentation approach may be used to cross-segment a plurality of customers so that the customers included in the crossed segments can be profiled for more precise targeting of marketing offers. Customers may be segmented according to one or more data types stored in a data warehouse. The multi-dimensional segmentation approach may be applied to relationships between and among the data types to obtain a holistic view of what drives customer value. The segmentations may be driven by a business objective. This enables the segment analysis to be calibrated in the context of the stated business objective.

The simulator provides individual discounts and determines the retail store performance in relation to the individual discounts. The individual discounts are responsive to input parameters such as price variables, customer models, and user inputs. Product price variables include purchasing costs, inventory costs, and replenishment rates. Customer models represent customer shopping behaviors. User inputs include a store strategy providing the relative importance of profits, sales volume, and customer loyalty. The optimization or individual discount system uses a modified simulated annealing operation to determine the optimal or better individual discounts for each customer that optimize store performance. The modified simulated annealing operation provides individual discounts in response to an objective function and customer models. The objective function is a mathematical representation of the retail store strategy for optimizing performance.

The client application can also encode messages to send to the content provider to request specified information on demand. Users can also specify criteria that, when met, the content provider automatically sends an encoded SMS message to the user's mobile terminal with the requested information, provided the user has prepaid to receive SMS messages.

A unified messaging application is operable to interpret the response and generate a first and second response that is based on the contents of the response generated by the response-generation application. The first and second responses are then transmitted to the wireless terminal in different communication formats.
