An interface needle (12) is used for connecting a syringe (14) to a catheter (10) to create a blunt interface between two or more liquids being delivered through the catheter (10). The interface needle (12) is particularly useful for creating a blunt interface between a bio-compatible solvent and a liquid embolic composition which is delivered to the body for treatment of various conditions including aneurysms. A system for liquid delivery with a blunt liquid interface includes a catheter (10) or other cannula, an interface needle (12), and a syringe (14). The interface needle (12) includes a tube (36) extending from a distal end which delivers liquid to a lumen of the catheter (10) bypassing a reservoir (36) in the catheter hub (28) to create the blunt liquid interface. One embodiment of the interface needle (12) controls an injection pressure of high viscosity liquids.

This invention is a stent (1) and stent catheter (2) for intracranial use. The stent is a rolled sheet stent (20) and is releasably mounted on the distal tip (21) of the catheter by means of a low profile or non-sliding retention and release mechanism. The low profile or non-sliding release mechanism (22) is operated remotely at the proximal end of the catheter by means of a linear translator (23). The stent is rolled tightly on the distal tip of the catheter and flexibility of the tightly rolled stent is promoted by ribbed or slatted construction (or, alternatively, slotted construction) in which the various layers of the stent are provided with numerous slats which counter align when the stent is expanded to form an imperforate wall from a plurality of perforate layers.
