Abstract:
An emulsifier containing a water-soluble hemicellulose derived from soybean cotyledon, a remarkably stable emulsifying composition containing the above emulsifier, and a powdery composition prepared by powdering the above composition.
Abstract:
Use of degraded or reduced molecular weight polymers in encapsulation is disclosed. Short chain polysaccharide derivatives such as ionic cellulose derivative hydrolyzates are used in forming capsules by combining the short chain polysaccharide derivatives with another polymer. Substances designed to be encapsulated serve as nuclei around which coacervate droplets are formed. The short chain charged polymer includes degradation products of polysaccharide derivatives having an average degree of polymerization in the range of 3 to about 500. Methods of using capsules for delivering or storage of oils, and other substances are disclosed. The invention also discloses use of capsules in food, feed, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and personal care products and in the coating of paper with microscopic rupturable capsules containing printing fluid.
Abstract:
The invention relates to microcapsules with a mixed wall of crosslinked atelocollagen and polyholosides, for example glycosaminoglycans, and to processes for the manufacture of the said microcapsules. According to the invention, the microcapsules comprise a mixed wall of crosslinked atelocollagen and polyholosides, for example glycosaminoglycans, the proportion of polyholosides, for example glycosaminoglycans, relative to the atelocollagen preferably being between 18 and 50% by weight. These microcapsules can be manufactured either by a process involving interfacial crosslinking or by the extrusion of a laminar flow which is broken up by vibrations into individual droplets, which fall into a crosslinking bath. These microcapsules are biocompatible by virtue of the presence of atelocollagen, which has most of the advantageous properties of collagen, namely a very low antigenicity and a perfect biodegradability. They are therefore particularly suitable for the manufacture of cosmetic, pharmaceutical or food compositions.
Abstract:
Enzyme for inclusion in liquid detergent concentrates is provided as a stable dispersion of small particles that also include a protective polymeric material comprising a polymeric shell and/or matrix, the particles having been provided by reverse phase azeotroping and/or by coacervation.
Abstract:
Capsules are prepared by bringing a fluid containing a polyanion polysaccharide or its salt as a base into contact with a solution of a soluble chitin derivative solution, particularly chitosan to form a gel membrane around the fluid. Since the capsules are formed under biological, i.e. mild conditions, capsules containing an unstable biological substance in the core solution can be provided.
Abstract:
Microcapsules having hard, thick walls are formed by dispersing an oily solution containing a crosslinking agent in an aqueous solution, and forming a polysalt in the aqueous solution, the polysalt including a high molecular weight polyanion and a polycationic polyamine having a functionality of at least three. The polyanion is preferably casein. If the surface of the microcapsules formed in the aqueous solution is lipophilized, the microcapsules easily separate from the solution by filtration. By use of a suitable wetting agent, the filter cake can be used in place of the pigment in any conventional printing ink. The microcapsule may be used in carbonless copy paper technology.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is concerned with the formation of small particles of organic compounds whose solubility in water is independent of temperature and greater at a first pH than at a second pH, upon precipitation by pH change with or without a change in temperature, but in the presence of a surfactant mixture.
