The present invention provides a mica tape, comprising a mica foil (12), a glass cloth (14), and an inorganic filler (16) arranged on the glass cloth, wherein the mica tape is wound a plurality of times about an outer circumferential surface of a conductor portion of an electrical rotating machine coil so as to form an insulating layer for the coil, and the inorganic filler (16) has a Mohs hardness falling within a range of 1 to 7 and exhibits a heat conductivity superior to those of the mica foil (12) and the glass cloth (14). According to the present invention, the inorganic filler is excellent in the heat conductivity and has a Mohs hardness not lower than that of the glass cloth contained in the mica tape, when used together with the inorganic filler, whereby, even if the mica tape is wound about the conductor portion while applying a prescribed tension to the mica tape, the mica tape is not broken, and it is possible to form an insulating layer capable of exhibiting the highest heat conductivity owned by the inorganic filler.

The invention relates to a method for producing insulating tapes which contain mica and which are used for coils of rotating electrical high voltage machines. After winding, the inventive insulating tapes can be impregnated with a solvent-free artificial resin under vacuum and pressure, and can be subsequently hardened using heat action. A mica film which contains fibers and which contains, apart from fine mica, additional organic and/or inorganic fibers is sprinkled with an epoxy resin mixture in the form of a powder paint. In addition, the side of the fiber-containing mica films which is sprinkled with the powder paint is bonded to a supporting material under pressure and at an increased temperature.

A processing device (220) has input terminals (A1, A2, A3) coupled to the sense resistor (228) and is programmed to determine the resistance (236) of the winding (110) insulation, which may include calculating the difference between the minimum and maximum current flowing through the sense resistor (228).

In a method for manufacturing a winding assembly of a concentrated winding motor, bobbinless coil assemblies 1 are produced in a manner that their shapes are nearly identical to winding slots 4 in a stator core 3 of a motor. The bobbinless coil windings 1 are insulated on their surfaces by coating with an insulating film 2. The bobbinless coil windings 1, whose surfaces have been insulated, are inserted into the winding slots 4 in the stator core 3 of the concentrated winding motor and bonded in place. The method allows coil windings to be mounted in the winding slots without using a bobbin or insulator, and allows their surfaces to be insulated with little need for space.
