    摘要: The present invention relates to a metering station (10) which allows liquids with elevated viscosity to be metered, especially liquids with a viscosity which is more than one hundred times the viscosity of water. The metering station is operated partly or fully automatically and has a modular structure. A metering module (1, 1') comprises at least one plug connecting element (8), with whose aid the metering module (1, 1') can be made to engage with a corresponding receiving device (9) for the plug connecting element. The plug connecting elements (8) are preferably multifunctional plugs which have at least one fluidic connecting element. In a further preferred embodiment, the plug connecting element (8), in addition to the at least one fluidic connecting element, also has at least one electrical connecting element for process control. The present invention further relates to a process which allows, in a very flexible manner and with a very high throughput, a multitude of (optionally different) components which have an elevated viscosity to be metered into a sampling vessel. The process uses a metering algorithm which is tailored to the high-throughput metering of liquids of elevated viscosity.

    摘要: A continuous method is provided for dissolving a solid oxidizer into an aqueous solution which yields a stream of the aqueous solution having a constant or near constant concentration of solid oxidizer. The method of the present invention includes (a) disposing a bed of solid oxidizer into a container; (b) introducing an aqueous solution below the top surface of the bed; and (c) removing any solution above the top surface of the bed while maintaining a constant or near constant level of aqueous solution above the bed. Preferably, step (c) is performed at about atmospheric pressure. This method can be achieved with a feeder that includes a tank for containing a bed of solid oxidizer and a disperser for introducing the aqueous solution into the tank. A sensor/control unit is provided for sensing a combined bed and aqueous solution volume within the tank and maintaining the combined volume within a predetermined range.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improved injector/valve combination which permits nearly immediate response time to an actuator signal. Such a combination is particularly suited for injecting colorants into polyurethane slabstock foam and permits a substantial reduction in foam waste due to low colorations during an on/off cycle. Specifically, this invention combination comprises a novel ball valve (43) which allows for instantaneous shut-off and -on without appreciable leakage or pressure drop and without the need to utilize a high throughput flow rate. Such a ball valve (43) is used in combination with an injector (66) which is actually attached to the valve, the configuration which permits continuous use and instantaneous on/off without a deleterious pressure drop and minimizes the possibility of turbulence as the liquid polymeric colorant flows through the injector. The ball valve (43), the attached injector (66) configuration, the coloring apparatus comprising the inventive ball valve and/or the attached injector configuration, and the slabstock foam colored through the utilization of such an apparatus are also contemplated within this invention.
