Low density additives and methods of making said additives for composite materials are provided. The low density additives have at least a partial or complete water repellant property that reduces moisture migration, absorption, and retention within a composite material in which it is incorporated into. Active sites are engineered onto the surface of the low density additives to enhance bonding of the additives within a composite matrix. Reduced water movement and enhanced bonding lead to an increased strength and durability performance for a composite material comprising such additives. Composite materials incorporating one or more engineered low density additives as also provided, such composite materials having enhanced strength and durability. Such composite materials may be made from a Hatschek process. The composite materials may be further used as interior and exterior building products.

Provided are a resin composition, comprising 100 parts by weight of a styrene-methylmethacrylate resin solution containing a styrene-methylmethacrylate copolymer and at least one of styrene and methylmethacrylate; 100 to 200 parts by weight of an inorganic filler; and 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a cross-linkable monomer; and an artificial marble prepared using the same and a process for preparing the same. The resin composition can provide an artificial marble having improved transparency due to reduction of refractive index difference between aluminum hydroxide and methylmethacrylate while maintaining excellent weatherability and thermal characteristics possessed by a conventional acrylic polymer.

The invention provides geopolymeric compositions, which have controllable thickening and setting times for a wide range of temperatures and a large range of geopolymer slurry densities. The geopolymer slurry compositions have good mixability and pumpability, whilst the set materials develop good compressive strength and permeability. The invention discloses a method for preparing geopolymer for oilfield cementing applications. The geopolymeric compositions according to the invention comprises a suspension made of an aluminosilicate source, a carrier fluid, an activator taken from the list constituted by: a metal silicate, a metal aluminate, an alkali activator, or a combination thereof, and an aluminum containing compound taken in the list constituted of bauxite, aluminum oxide and aluminum salt and the suspension is a pumpable composition in oilfield industry and the suspension is able to set under well downhole conditions.

To provide a quick-setting admixture for spraying and a spraying method, which are effective to prevent solidification of a quick-setting admixture slurried in a quick-setting admixture-adding tool. A slurry quick-setting admixture comprising an alkaline earth metal carbonate, a water-soluble acidic substance, calcium aluminate, an alkali metal sulfate, and water; and a quick-setting cement concrete comprising such a slurry quick-setting admixture and cement concrete. The slurry quick-setting admixture may further contain calcium sulfate, calcium hydroxide and/or aluminum hydroxide, a retarder, etc. The spraying method comprises mixing water and a powder quick-setting admixture comprising an alkaline earth metal carbonate, a water-soluble acidic substance, calcium aluminate and an alkali metal sulfate, to form a slurry quick-setting admixture, mixing this slurry quick-setting admixture with cement concrete to form a quick-setting cement concrete, and spraying this quick-setting cement concrete. Further, a quick-setting admixture for spraying which comprises a liquid quick-setting admixture, and a powder admixture comprising a blowing agent such as an alkaline earth metal carbonate, and calcium aluminate, wherein the powder admixture further contains calcium sulfate or an alkali metal-containing substance, and wherein the liquid quick-setting admixture further contains an alkali metal element or a compound having a fluorine element. The quick-setting admixture for spraying wherein the liquid quick-setting admixture and the powder admixture are joined and mixed in a slurry form.
