The present invention relates to method for producing a printed decorative paper comprising the steps of: i) providing a substrate paper; ii) applying to said substrate paper a decorative layer; iii) applying to said decorative layer a liquid coating consisting essentially of a polymerizable mixture; iv) applying polymerization conditions to form a polymerized layer on said decorative layer. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a printed decorative paper, which decorative paper is processed to form a decorative panel, which decorative panel thus obtained will exhibit a good resistance against weather influences.

Es werden ein Schichtstoff und ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Schichtstoffes beschrieben. Der Schichtstoff basiert auf mit Melaminharz, Phenolharz und/oder MelaminPhenolharz bestrichenen oder getränkten Papier- oder Gewebebahnen, die durch Einwirkung von Wärme und Druck zu einem Laminat verpresst sind. Er weist eine Oberflächenschicht auf, in der das entsprechende Harz mit einem die Oberflächenspannung des fertigen Laminates reduzierenden Stoff vernetzt ist. Bei dem Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Schichtstoffes wird ein die Oberflächenspannung des fertigen Laminates reduzierender und zumindest teilweise mit dem Harz eine Vernetzungsreaktion eingehender Stoff dem Harz vor dem Bestreichen oder Tränken zugesetzt, direkt auf die Oberfläche des nicht ausgehärteten Schichtstoffes aufgebracht oder über ein Transferverfahren auf die Oberfläche des nicht ausgehärteten Schichtstoffes aufgebracht. Beim Verpressen wird zumindest µm oberflächennahen Bereich des Schichtstoffes eine Vernetzungsreaktion zwischen dem Harz und dem die Oberflächenspannung reduzierenden Stoff initiiert. Auf diese Weise lässt sich ein Schichtstoff mit verbesserten Antifingerprinteigenschaften herstellen.

Decorated sheets based on non-woven cellulose materials such as paper for producing decorated laminates are impregnated with synthetic resins. During this process, their size alters, and they become brittle and within the laminate they are not water-resistant. In the process according to the invention, the printed or unprinted non-woven materials are impregnated with an aqueous dispersion of a polymer crosslinkable by UV radiation, dried, optionally printed and finally irradiated with UV. The resultant decorated sheets are water-resistant within the laminate and after each process step can be rolled up and stored.

A method of manufacturing a highly transparent abrasion and scratch resistant overlay, or a highly transparent abrasion and scratch resistant décor paper surface, includes impregnating a paper with a first resin to produce a first stage impregnated paper substrate, and partially drying the first stage impregnated paper substrate. Applied to the partially dried first stage substrate is at least one coating of a second resin compatible with the first resin. The method further includes applying to the at least one coating, in a wet on wet process, a liquid resin layer containing hard particles for abrasion resistance, whereby to produce a composite paper, and drying and at least partially curing the composite paper to the required b-stage. Also disclosed is a highly transparent abrasion and scratch resistant overlay, or a highly transparent abrasion and scratch resistant décor paper surface.

Disclosed is a method of producing a synthetic resin film for laminates. The method comprises impregnating a substrate with a thermosetting resin composition comprising an uncured thermosetting resin and a low profile additive and drying and, optionally partially curing the impregnated substrate. The low profile additive is typically inert spherical particles or powder. The method of the present invention produces synthetic resin film having improved scratch resistance.
