摘要:
A method and instruction set stored in a computer readable medium are provided to singulate the limbs of a plurality of animals traversing an instrumented force-sensing floor. The method and the instruction set include the steps of (a) obtaining a data file comprising positional data and ground reaction force data for the animals traversing an instrumented force-sensing floor; (b) dividing the positional data into a plurality of time zones, each time zone having a start time and an end time; (c) determining whether each of said time zones represents positional data and ground reaction force data for a single limb or for multiple limbs; (d) singulating multiple limb time zones into a plurality of separate single limb time zones; (e) identifying each limb in each time zone as a fore limb or a hind limb and a left limb or a right limb; and (f) associating each identified fore and hind limb with a respective one of the animals.

A medium having a plurality of data blocks stored therein is disclosed. The medium can be a DVD. The plurality of data blocks can be viewed by playing the medium in a medium player. The medium player can be a DVD player. A first instruction set instructs the medium player to play the plurality of data blocks of the medium in a pre-determined sequence. Further, a second instruction set instructs the medium player to play the plurality of data blocks of the medium in response to user commands that determine the order for playing the plurality of data blocks of the medium.

A media device (300) in accordance with embodiments of the present invention can provide high density data storage. In one embodiment such a media device can include a phase change media (306) having altered resistivity where data is written to the media. The media can include an overcoat (308) to reduce physical damage inflicted on the media from a device such as a cantilever tip in a molecular memory integrated circuit used to write to or read from the media. Data written to the media can be exist in multiple state, allowing digital and/or analog data to be stored on the media. Other objects, aspects and advantages of the invention can be obtained from reviewing the figures, specification and claims. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.
摘要:
A method and mechanism for rapidly freeing storage space allocated to any logical portion of a file. An application program (30) provides the file system (28) with information indicating a block of logical data to free. The file system (28) converts the information to the physical allocation units such as the clusters corresponding to the logical block of data, and manipulates the file's meta data to indicate that the physical space is no longer allocated to the file. The file system (28) then adds the space to disk free space. Applications (30) such as merge applications and those managing FIFO queues may use the method and mechanism to shrink a file from the start of the file toward the end thereof without copying the logical data or adjusting internal pointers relative to the logical file data (42n).

The invention relates to a magneto-optical storage medium (200) and specifically a domain expansion storage medium. The medium (200) comprises a magnetic storage layer (107) for long term information storage and a thereto magnetically coupled magnetic reproduction or read-out layer (111), wherein an enhanced magnetic domain may be generated during read out. The magnetic layers (107,111) are separated by a non-metallic or metallic, non-magnetic or magnetic layer (109) and at least one metal layer (201, 203), such as Palladium or Platinum, is located adjacent to the magnetic reproduction layer (111). Preferably this metal layer (201, 203) is located on each side of the magnetic reproduction layer (111). The metal layer(s) (201, 203) provides increased heat dissipation and Kerr effect thereby permitting increased data density of the magneto-optical storage medium (200).

The optical recording medium of the invention comprises a recording layer and at least one mixed dielectric layer. The mixed dielectric layer contains cerium oxide and an additive compound. The additive compound is at least one compound selected from among aluminum oxide, chromium oxide, iron oxide, manganese oxide, niobium oxide, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, titanium oxide, yttrium oxide, tantalum oxide, antimony oxide, zirconium oxide, bismuth oxide and magnesium fluoride. The optical recording medium has a high storage reliability and satisfactory recording/reading characteristics.

A system and method is disclosed for allowing content providers (50) to protect against widespread copying of their content, while enabling them to give their customers more freedom in the way they use the content. In accordance with one embodiment, content providers (50) identify their content as protected by watermarking the content. Consumers use compliant devices to access protected content. All of a user's compliant devices, or all of a family's devices, can be organized into an authorized domain (40). This authorized domain (40) is used by content providers (50) to create a logical boundary in which they can allow users increased freedom to use their content.

A reverse bias voltage in combination with selective illumination can selectively write data into optical memory (300). The writing process can be completed quickly since parallel writing of data may be performed. The writing process generates an avalanche current (208) that is used to change an element. The change can be destruction of the element or may be alteration of property such as conductance or work function (206).

A method of aligning a magnetic read/write head (22) to data tracks (12) on a magnetic surface of a digital linear tape (12). The method includes writing a signal over a track (12) of optical servo marks located on the magnetic surface of the tape (12) with a servo channel writer (82), generating a position error signal from read back signals obtained from a servo channel reader (82), and positioning the magnetic read/write head (22) in accordance with the position error signal.
