According to the method, the warp yarns (3) are heated in an area adjacent to the shed opening point to a temperature high enough to cause a local reduction in the modulus of elasticity of the warp yarns (plus stretching thereof in the case of thermoplastic yarns), whereafter the warp yarns are cooled in the shed before they reach the heddles (7, 8).
