A method of making a lapped fibrous insulation is provided which includes the steps of conveying a cured binder-impregnated mat of fibers, the mat having a thickness, a longitudinal length and transverse ends. The method further includes providing a plurality of spaced, perhaps every 24 inches to 120 inches, transverse cuts through at least a portion of the thickness of the mat, and lapping the mat of fibers in opposite directions to fold said mat into a generally sinous configuration, having a series of continuous lengths wherein at least one of the transverse cuts is aligned with at least one of the folded regions for assisting in making the mat of fibers easier to fold during the lapping step. A fibrous insulation material in the form of a lapped roll in accordance with this invention is also provided.

A method of producing a foam is disclosed. The method includes providing an epoxy-containing compound, a cationic catalyst, an optional blowing agent, and at least one additive. The method further includes combining the epoxy-containing compound with the cationic catalyst, the optional blowing agent, and the at least one additive, wherein the epoxy-containing compound and the cationic catalyst react to polymerize the epoxy-containing compound to provide a foam having a density from about 0.3lbs/ft 3 to about 5.0 lbs/ft 3 as measured by ASTM D1622. Further disclosed are the foam and a method for installing the foam.

The substrate layer is near-IR reflective to minimize radiant energy absorption, even while the second layer is provided with a dark color. Pigments are contained within the co-extruded polymers to provide a durable finished product.

A duct board or duct liner (10) comprises: an insulating layer (12) formed from fibrous material bound with a resin binder, an outer facing layer (18) adhered to an outer surface of the insulating layer, and a water repellant mat facing (14) adhered to an interior surface of the insulating layer opposite the outer surface to form a duct board material. The mat facing (14) provides sufficient water repellency to repel a mixture of about 40% isopropanol and about 60% water. The duct board or duct liner material (10) may be formed into a tubular shape capable of conducting air, with the mat facing on the interior of the tubular shape.

At least one movable wall (52) that continually moves unbound insulation bales (B) by a drive means (66, 68) toward a dispensing end (32) of the base (24) where shredding of the insulation from the unbound insulation bales (B) occurs. The shredding is accomplished by a plurality of picker drums (78). Each of the picker drums (78) has positioned on the circumference a plurality of abraders (88) that abrade and remove clumps of insulation from the unbound bales permitting the clumps to fall into a blender (98a, 98b, 98c) wherein the insulation material is formed into particulate material and then cast into an air blower (110). A force measurer (120) including a strain gauge is operatively connected to the shredder.

A removable lineal and finishing system for framing doors or windows. The removable lineal includes a cover portion and a channel portion. The channel portion includes a latch portion for detachably mounting the lineal to a J-channel. The latch portion of the lineal is inserted between a hook portion of the J-channel and a siding material. A gap in the J-channel receives and secures siding materials. The J-channel is mounted to a wall of a building and abuts a frame for a door or window.
