    摘要: A transmitting box (101) is connected to a first electrical outlet in a building. The phase of the first electrical outlet is used as the reference phase. The transmitter box senses each of the zero-cross-overs of the reference phase and injects a data packet of the data carrier frequency at each zero-cross-over. A receiving box (103) is connected to a second electrical outlet in the building. The second electrical outlet has a test phase which may be different from the reference phase. The receiver box receives each data packet and senses each phase zero-cross-over of the test phase. The receiver box uses the time between each reception of a data packet and each detection of a test phase zero-cross-over to determine the phase angle of the test phase relative to the reference phase.

    摘要: A power line communications amplifier includes a first amplifier (23) which amplifies a transmit signal consistent within a first operating potential range, a second amplifier (52, 59, 61) which provides additional amplification of the transmit signal consistent within a second operating potential range, wherein the second range is larger than the first range, and a transformer (90) which is employed to couple the amplifier transmit signal output by the second amplifier (52, 59, 61) to the power line communications system. A feedback circuit (70, 71, 72) couples the output of the second amplifier (52, 59, 61) to the input of the first amplifier (23) and functions to maintain a low output impedance while the amplifier circuit operates in a transmit mode. Control circuit (14, 40) is coupled to the second amplifier (52, 59, 61) for switching the amplifier circuit from the transmit mode to a receive mode. While in the receive mode, the amplifier circuit presents a relatively high output impedance.

    摘要: A sigma-delta A/D converter (301) having a digital logic gate core. The converter is comprised of a loop filter (304) for shaping the converter's quantization noise spectrum. The loop filter is comprised of an unbuffered CMOS logic gate inverter (602) which can be implemented by a gate array. A quantizer (305) is coupled to the loop filter. A logic gate buffer (501) is configured as a one-bit comparator, which is used to perform the quantization. This logic gate buffer can be one of the gates of a gate array. A sample (306) is coupled to the quantizer for sampling the quantized signal. This sampler can also be implemented by digital circuitry of a gate array. The signal from the sampler is fed into a decimator (302). The decimator outputs a digital signal representative of the amplitude of the analog signal.
