The invention relates to an exhaust gas purifying apparatus provided with a lean NOx catalyst (3) supporting a catalyst layer, which contains a NOx trapping component, on a honeycomb substrate formed so as not to cause an alkali attack. The invention prevents trapped NOx from being dissociated and exhausted during the time of a rich spike. A NOx reducing catalyst (4) with the function of reducing NOx by a reductant in a rich or stoichiometric condition, e.g., a three-way catalyst, is disposed downstream of the lean NOx catalyst (3). In the case of increasing the amount of the NOx trapping component in the lean NOx catalyst (3) to enhance a NOx trapping capability, even if a part of trapped NOx is dissociated during the time of the rich spike, the dissociated NOx can be reduced by the NOx reducing catalyst (4) disposed on the downstream side.

The invention relates to an electrical connection system for two printed circuit boards mounted on opposite sides of a mid-plane printed circuit board at angles to each other. The system includes two connector printed circuit boards, each containing pairs of electrical connections (211a, 212a). The connector boards are mounted on opposite faces of a mid-plane printed circuit board, which contains pairs of overlaying via holes on each of its faces. The via holes are positioned according to one of two schemes. In the first scheme, the via holes (111a, 112a; 111b, 112b) are positioned along an axis perpendicular to an axis that bisects the angle of misalignment of the connector boards, and the via holes are equidistant from a point on the axis that bisects the angle of misalignment of the connector boards. In the second scheme, the via holes are positioned along an axis that bisects the angle of misalignment of the connector boards, and the via holes are equidistant from each of the electrical connections. The electrical connections on each of the connector boards are connected through electrical paths (201a, 202a; 201b, 202b). The rolling method for the strip rolling mill comprises the steps of: when the material (19) with a constant width is being rolled, setting axial positions of the work rolls (1A, 1B) at appropriate positions and changing axial positions of the intermediate rolls (2A, 2B) to control a thickness distribution in a width direction of the material (19) being rolled. This arrangement significantly improves an edge drop and at the same time minimizes edge drop variations, thereby preventing surface defects from occurring on the surface of the material being rolled and performing an efficient rolling operation.
