    摘要: An immune suppressive product prepared by injecting an allergen or a mixture of allergens into the body of milk-producing species. Said product being the milk or a polypeptide subfraction of milk obtained from the allergen treated host. The immune suppressive product(s) is milk and/or the polypeptide fractions contained therein, which is ostensively free of the intact allergen or allergens used for the treatment of the host. The immune suppressive factor(s) being a subfraction of the allergen used for the treatment. A method of preparing immune suppressive polypeptides from intact allergens, which involves injection of the specific intact allergens into a milk-producing species, collecting the immune suppressive polypeptide fractions of the intact allergens from the milk of the treated host. The immune suppressive milk containing said polypeptide fractions, and/or the polypeptide fractions obtained from said milk, are non reactive in animals and humans as allergens. Said factor(s), however, are highly effective in preventing or alleviating allergic reactions.

    摘要: A method for enhancing the hybridization signal of a nucleic acid hybridization assay for the DNA or RNA of a Salmonella in a sample by adding the sample to a RV growth medium under conditions sufficient to allow any Salmonella in the sample to propagate, propagating Salmonella, if any, in the medium for a time sufficient to allow the number of Salmonella to reach a predetermined titer, removing trace minerals from the medium, adding a nucleic acid probe to the medium under stringency conditions sufficient to allow the probe to preferentially hybridize with the Salmonella, if any, to form hybridization products that emit an enhanced signal, and assaying the medium to detect the enhanced signal. The method is especially suited for detecting Salmonella in food samples.

    摘要: A method for obtaining longer cDNA sequences is provided. The method utilizes a known genomic DNA sequence or a partial cDNA sequence, such as can be obtained from GenBank partial cDNAs. Two PCR primers are designed to correspond to the ends of the known partial sequence and to anneal to DNA in a cDNA library so as to initiate extension away from the known cDNA and the other primer. The primers are added to a cDNA library with appropriate enzymes and extend through additional DNA sequence to produce PCR products, which are subsequently purified and sequenced to provide new sequences. The new sequences are then compared with the known partial cDNA sequence for areas of overlap, and the sequence is extended beyond the overlapping areas to provide longer DNA sequence.
