    摘要: An indexable cutter insert (10b) for a rotary cutter includes a generally polygonal plate (11) defined by a front face (12), a rear face (14) and a plurality of side faces (16). The corner portions of the plate (11) where adjacent side faces (16) intersect one another are removed to provide respective corner faces (18). The plate (11) has a pluarality of main cutting edges (20) each defined by the front face (12) and a respective one of the side faces (16) and a plurality of auxiliary cutting edges (22) each defined by the front face (12) and a respective one of the corner faces (18). Each side face (16) serves as a relief surface of a respective one of the main cutting edges (20). A forward portion of each corner face (18) remote from the rear face (14) serves as a relief surface (18a) of a respective one of the auxiliary cutting edges (22). A rearward portion of each corner face (18) remote from the front face (12) is offset inwardly from the foward portion to provide a clearance portion (40). The clearance portion (40) extends from the rear face (14) to a plane generally centrally of the thickness of the plate (11).

    摘要: There are provided an apparatus and a method for manu­facturing a copper-base alloy. The apparatus includes an alloying spout (16), at least one feeder (20 and/or 22) and a tundish (18). The alloying spout (16) is inclined downwardly from one end toward the other end for flowing a molten copper therethrough. The feeder (20 and/or 22) is connected to the alloying spout (16) for introducing at least one solid solute constituent into the alloying spout (16). The method includes the steps of providing the above apparatus, continuously introducing the molten copper from the inlet (16a) into the passageway (16c) of the alloying spout (16) and causing the molten copper to flow downwardly through the passageway (16c) to the outlet (16b) and continuously introducing the solid solute constituent into the passageway (16c) of the alloying spout (16) through the feeder (20 and/or 22) to mix the solute constituent with the molten copper to produce the copper-base alloy.

    摘要: An apparatus for polishing one of opposite faces of a slab member (22) includes a surface plate (10), a mounting member (20), an urging shaft (16) and a pressure transmitting member (12, 24). The surface plate has a flat upper surface and is rotatable about an axis (x) perpendicular to the upper surface. The mounting member has an upper face and a lower face to which the other face of the slab member is fixedly secured, and is disposed above the surface plate in such a manner that the one face of the slab member to be polished is held in contact with the upper surface of the surface plate. The urging shaft is connected to the mounting member for urging the mounting member toward the surface plate at a prescribed urging pressure to bring the one face of the slab member into pressure contact with the upper surface of the surface plate. The pressure transmitting member is interposed between the mounting member and the urging shaft for causing the urging pressure of the urging shaft to exert on the upper face of the mounting member. The transmitting member has a deformable chamber which contains a fluid (26) therein.
