Abstract:
A method is provided for co-producing dialkyl carbonate and alkanediol by reacting alkylene carbonate with alkanol in the presence of a IIIA metal oxide catalyst, preferably alumina.
Abstract:
The invention provides certain iminoacetamides which have been prepared by reacting alkylamines with acetoacetamides, and their use as friction reducing additives in fuels and lubes.
Abstract:
Alkylation product is contacted with a purification medium in a liquid phase pre-reaction step to remove impurities and form a purified stream. The purified stream is then further processed by liquid phase transalkylation to convert the polyalkylated aromatic compound to a monoalkylated aromatic compound. The process may use a molecular sieve catalyst such as MCM-22 as the purification medium in the pre-reaction step because of its high reactivity for alkylation, strong retention of catalyst poisons and low reactivity for oligomerization under the pre-reactor conditions. Olefins, diolefins, styrene, oxygenated organic compounds, sulfur containing compounds, nitrogen containing compounds and oligomeric compounds are removed.
Abstract:
A process for catalytic cracking of a hydrocarbon feedstock feeds to produce an enhanced yield butylenes and isobutane comprises contacting the feedstock with a catalyst composition comprising MCM-68. The MCM-68 may be used as the primary cracking catalyst or may be used as an additive component in conjunction with a conventional cracking catalyst, such as a large pore molecular sieve having a pore size greater than 7 Angstrom.
Abstract:
There is provided a process for increasing the Cetane Index of a distillate fraction by reacting the fraction with hydrogen over a catalyst comprising a hydrogenation component, such as platinum, and steamed zeolite Beta. The process results in the selective ring opening of cyclic compounds, such as aromatics, with a minimum of cracking of paraffinic hydrocarbons.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a nozzle, nozzle assembly, and method of use thereof for atomizing a liquid stream into a flat fan-shaped spray. The nozzle and nozzle assembly are particularly useful for atomizing a hydrocarbon feed into a catalytic cracking zone of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process. The nozzle includes a nozzle tip that has at least three substantially vertical openings extending from the inner surface of the nozzle tip to the outer surface of the nozzle tip. The openings are angled from 0 degrees to about 75 degrees. The present invention also provides a nozzle assembly containing at least three nozzles of the present invention that are radially mounted around the perimeter of an area to be sprayed.
Abstract:
In a process for alkylating an aromatic reactant to produce an alkylated aromatic product, the aromatic reactant is introduced into a fluidized bed reaction zone at a first location in the fluidized bed reaction zone and the alkylating reactant is introduced into the fluidized bed reaction zone at one more locations downstream from the first location. The process is particularly applicable to the alkylation of toluene with methanol to produce xylenes.
Abstract:
A system and a method for transferring cryogenic fluids; e.g. transferring liquefied natural gas (LNG) between an offshore receiving/loading station (13) and an onshore facility (11). The flowline system which can be submerged in water is comprised of a main transfer conduit (15) which is positioned within an outer jacket and a return conduit which is positioned within the main transfer conduit. The annulus between the jacket and the main conduit is insulated. Both the main conduit and the return conduit include means which allow the respective conduits to expand/contract with temperature changes.
