To provide a cloth piece folding device capable of folding a cloth piece accurately through adjustment of a driving speed of a bending plate. A cloth piece folding device includes a conveyor (12) to transfer a cloth piece (Y), a bending unit (32) to fold the cloth piece (Y), and a controller (50) to control operation of the bending unit (32). The bending unit (32) includes a bending plate (32a) and an actuator (32d) to make the bending plate (32a) move forward and backward. The actuator (32d) is capable of controlling an operating speed. The controller (50) adjusts a driving speed of the bending plate (32a) by controlling an operating speed of the actuator (32d) depending on a transfer speed of the conveyor (12). The driving speed of the bending plate (32a) is adjusted by the controller (50). This synchronizes the transfer speed of the conveyor (12) and the driving speed of the bending plate (32a) with each other. As a result, the cloth piece (Y) can be folded at a suitable bending position, so that the cloth piece (Y) can be folded accurately.

Provided is an apparatus and a method for inspecting a cloth piece, by which dirt and a tear can be reliably distinguished, and which have high accuracy to detect the dirt. The apparatus for inspecting a cloth piece includes: an inspection table 20 having a dark color section 21 and a light transmitting section 22; a first inspection camera 41 for picking up an image of reflected light from a cloth piece T passing through the dark color section 21; and a second inspection camera 42 for picking up an image of transmitted light through the cloth piece T passing through the transparent section 22. The dirt and the tear can be reliably distinguished by determining an area where the reflected light and transmitted light are both darker than a surrounding area to be dirt and by determining an area where the reflected light is darker than the surrounding area and the transmitted light is brighter than the surrounding area to be the tear. The dirt inside the cloth piece is emphasized, thereby providing high detection accuracy to detect the dirt.

This cloth spreading apparatus includes: a spreading unit having spreading clamps that spread an upper-side part of a fed cloth in a right-left direction; and an ejection unit having an intermediate movable body that, while moving backward from a forward position, releases the upper-side part of the cloth that the intermediate movable body has received from the spreading clamps in the forward position and held onto an upper surface by sucking, and a belt conveyor that receives the upper-side part of the cloth having been released by the intermediate movable body and ejects the entire cloth backward. The ejection unit has: a large number of suction holes that are dispersedly disposed in the upper surface of the intermediate movable body, at least over a lateral range corresponding to a set maximum lateral width of the upper-side part of the cloth; a negative pressure source that sucks out air inside the intermediate movable body to form a negative pressure region inside the intermediate movable body; and sucking force maintaining means that maintains a sucking force of the suction holes regardless of whether the lateral width of the upper-side part of the cloth is large or small.
