    摘要: In a navigation system which sets a route from a designated starting point to a destination and guides a car along the route, node data (3) consisting of position data and its attributes, crossing data (1) consisting of data on crossings and road data (2) consisting of data on roads are provided as map data used for route search. Data on the road between crossings and the data on the starting point and end point of road and crossing are obtained from the crossing data (1) and the road data (2) and an optimum route is searched by comparing each route in a route search unit (4). The map data has a hierarchical structure. Branch line networks are developed in an upper hierarchy connected to a trunk road network and divided into blocks and searching of crossings connected to road networks in lower hierarchy to upper hierarchy is performed sequentially and repeatedly. In this manner, processing can be made while the range of search is being limited and search processing can be speed up. In addition, a work area necessary for searching can be reduced and memory area can be saved.

    摘要: A display unit of a navigation system in accordance with the present invention is equipped with route search means (13) for searching an optimum route on the basis of position data, node data (21), crossing data (19) and road data (23) and reduced scale setting means (15), sets a reduced scale of a display map in accordance with the distance between the present position and the destination and selectively displays a road to be displayed in accordance with the reduced scale on a display (31). This invention includes also a display (48) for displaying a crossing graphics consisting of a starting crossing, a neighbouring road network and landmarks and touch keys (35) such as a decision key for drawing a travelling direction on the displayed crossing graphics, a rotation support key for rotating the crossing graphics and displaying it, and the like. The invention is further equipped with a data processing control unit (46) for reading the position coordinates of a crossing landmark to be displayed from a map data (53), rotating and enlarging the position coordinates, converting them to the coordinates of a drawing area set.in the display means and sending an output signal so that the crossing landmark pattern is drawn in this converted coordinates.

    摘要: Route searching (35) to the destination is performed by use of a road data (26) having each crossing data and road data and by inputting the destination to generate navigation data (27) and a course to the destination is directed while the present position is being traced (37). A course guide to the end crossing of the present position road is output by use of data on travelling guide from each crossing to the destination obtained via route searching (35) from the road network data (26). At a crossing, the present position is traced on a travelling direction road which has been recognized by a present position trace means (37) and the end crossing of that road is recognized. Recognition of a travelling direction is made at the end crossing of a road between crossings and the road in the travelling direction is used as the present position road to output a guide to the next end crossing and this procedure is repeated at each crossing up to the destination and course guiding is thus performed. In route searching, a travelling road to the destination is set for each crossing. Therefore, course guiding to the destination from the end crossing of a travelling road can be conducted by recognizing a crossing and its travelling road.

    摘要: This invention relates to a vehicle navigation system including an input device (1), a CPU (2)- a display (3) and a storage device (4). The storage device (4) is a CD-ROM or the like for stonng the network data and information of each point as the destination or the present position and map data (10), a crossing list (11). a destination list (12), road data (13), a place name list (14). etc.. are stored therein. When the destination is inputted and designated by the input means (1), the CPU (2) interacts with a program stored in a ROM (9a) in order to set data for reaching the destination by means of the retrieval of a route corresponding to each point stored in the storage device (4) and stores it in memory such as a RAM (9b). In an embodiment. a non-volatile area for storing the starting point data (the east longitude. the north latitude, etc.) is disposed in the RAM (9b) and when data is inputted by a reset switch at the time of the inputting of the starting point, data in this non-volatile area can be rewritten. The data thus written is held until the reset switch is pressed again to input a location position and is not erased even when an ignition switch is turned off.
