摘要： A pavement marker (30) comprising a base member (40) and a signal means (70) for sending a light signal to a driver of an oncoming vehicle further includes a longitudinally extending tire directing hood member (79) that directs tire contact away from the upper edge, upper portion, and upper generally corner portions of the signal means front face (95), while allowing tire contact with the lower portion of the signal means front face. The signal means front face is at a predetermined recess depth in the pavement marker, and is at a predetermined angle with respect to the roadway surface. The marker can be either a snowplowable marker or a sun country marker. The signal means optionally can be mounted on a base member by a mechanical interlock (Figures 5-9). Optional drainage channels (55a, 55b, 55c, 55d) can be provided in the base member to allow drainage of fluid from in front of the lower portion of the signal means.

摘要： A substrate having embossed thereon a plurality of shaped recesses of a predetermined precise geometric profile, each recess having a flat bottom surface having a major dimension of about 500 ν or less, the substrate being capable of undergoing a thermal cycle of about one hour at about 150 °C while maintaining about ± 10 ν or less dimensional stability of the embossed shaped indentations, and wherein the substrate comprises an amorphous thermoplastic material. During the thermal cycle the substrate has an elastic modulus greater than about 1010 dynes/cm2 and a viscoelastic index of less than about 0.1.

摘要： A pavement marker (10) for daytime visibility comprises a transparent fluorescent top portion (40) having smooth flat parallel top and bottom surfaces (43, 46) with a front edge (47) therebetween and air interfacing most of the bottom surface (46). Light received by the smooth flat top surface (43) of the top portion (40) is directed internally through the top portion (40) and emitted from the front edge (47), thereby providing a bright daytime signal to drivers of oncoming vehicles.

A continuous embossing tool (200) is provided by welding segments together. The welds including interface material at the weld joint which is of a different material than the segment material to increase the tensile strength.
