摘要: Methods and network nodes of a wireless telecommunications system are disclosed. One method of controlling transmissions with a base station of a wireless telecommunications system comprises the steps of: determining a set of neighbouring base stations, each base station in the set of neighbouring base stations utilising an identical carrier and scrambling code to support transmissions with that base station; and allocating base stations in the set of neighbouring base stations different spreading codes for transmissions with those base stations. By allocating each base station in the set of base stations sharing the same carrier and scrambling code different spreading codes, interference in transmissions between the base stations can be controlled.

摘要: A method of transmitting a data message comprising a plurality of data symbols from a transmitting node to a receiving node in a network and an analogous method of receiving a data message at a receiving node in a network. Transmitting and receiving network nodes and computer program products operable to perform said methods. The method of receiving comprises: receiving a plurality of coded packets comprising the data message encoded using rateless coding techniques; decoding the received plurality of coded packets; determining at least one of the plurality of data symbols required by the receiving node to successfully decode the data message; and transmitting an indication of the required data symbols to the transmitting node. Aspects and embodiments recognise that security and uncontrolled latencies are a concern when running data transmission services, for example, on a cloud computing infrastructure. Use ofrateless coding with feedback may address the shortcomings of existing transport protocols such as TCP and UDP.

摘要: A method of selecting transmission characteristics of a small cell base station operable to support an area of radio coverage within a wireless telecommunications network, a computer program product and apparatus operable to perform that method. The method comprises: receiving an indication of small cell base station pilot signal strength associated with first transmission characteristics from a plurality of sensors provided at a boundary of a desired area of radio coverage; adjusting the transmission characteristics; receiving an indication of small cell base station pilot signal strength associated with adjusted transmission characteristics from a plurality of sensors provided at a boundary of the desired area of radio coverage; and selecting which of the first transmission characteristics and the adjusted characteristics are determined to result in an area of radio coverage which is closest to the desired area of radio coverage. Such a method may assist in the commissioning and configuration of a small cell base station within a wireless telecommunications network and ameliorate issues caused by interference. Furthermore, such methods may ensure that coverage is provided to user equipment operating within the region of desired radio coverage, whilst leakage to regions outside that area of desired coverage may be minimised.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling the transmit power of a mobile station (UEX) served by a small cell (C1).
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method comprises the steps of, and the apparatus comprises means for, detecting a measurement event anticipating the forthcoming fulfillment of a handover condition towards a neighboring macro cell (C2) by the mobile station, and thereupon step-wise increasing the transmit power level of the mobile station so as to reach a transmit power target (P_Target) when the handover condition is eventually fulfilled by the mobile station.
The transmit power target is for compensating for an estimated downlink path loss for the mobile station in the macro cell.
The apparatus typically forms part of a radio access point (100) configured to operate the small cell, such as a femto base station to be operated in residential or business premises, or a pico, metro or micro base station to provide increased capacity in a targeted area of data traffic concentration.

摘要: A wireless telecommunication base station operable to provide a region of radio coverage within a wireless telecommunication network. The base station comprises: transmission apparatus operable to provide a first region of radio coverage on a first radio frequency and a second region of radio coverage on a second radio frequency. The first region of radio coverage comprises a plurality of angularly spaced first radio beams. The second region of radio coverage comprises at least a second radio beam. The second radio beam is arranged to radiate from the base station between adjacent angularly spaced first radio beams. It will be understood that aspects described provide a novel method for configuring sectors in a multi-carrier cellular network. Such an approach minimises or removes a poor signal to interference and noise ratio region between sectors and acts to significantly improve edge signal to interference and noise ratio whilst maintaining full frequency re-use. The concept is also applicable to OFDM systems such as LTE.
