The invention relates to a method for producing thin, absorbent surface structures which can be used in hygiene products such as nappies, incontinence products, dressings or sanitary towels, in order to receive bodily fluids. The inventive method comprises the following steps: A) a mixture is produced from an adhesive in the form of a dispersion and a particle-shaped absorbent by swirling the constituents, B) the mixture of adhesive and absorbent is uniformly applied to the surface of one side of a first flat carrier material, C) one side of a second flat carrier material is applied to the mixture of adhesive and absorbent on the surface of one side of the first flat carrier material, forming a sandwich-type intermediate product, and D) said sandwich-type intermediate product is processed to form the final product, at a temperature of at least 90 °C, a pressure of between 4 and 50 bar and a pressure time of between 0.5 and 5 min. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out step (A) of the method, and hygiene products containing at least one thin, absorbent surface structure produced according to the inventive method.

The invention relates to water-absorbing, cross-linked polymerizates which are in the form of a foam and which can be obtained by (I) foaming a polymerizable aqueous mixture which contains: (a) acid groups containing monoethylenically unsaturated monomers which are optionally neutralized; (b) optional other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers; (c) cross-linking agents; (d) initiators; (e) 0.1 to 20 wt. % of at least one surface active agent; (f) optionally at least one dissolving mediator; and (g) optional thickeners, foam stabilizers, polymerization chain transfer agents, fillers and/or cell nucleating agents. Fine bubbles of a gas which is inert against radicals causes foaming by dispersion in the polymerizable aqueous mixture. The inventive polymerizates can also be obtained by (II) polymerizing the foamed mixture by forming a hydrogel which is in the form of a foam, whereby at least 20 mol % of the monomers (a) containing acid groups are neutralized with tertiary alkanolamines and/or the free acid groups of the hydrogel in the form of a foam are neutralized with at least one alkanolamine to at least 20 mol % after the polymerization, and the water content of the polymerizate which is in the form of a foam is set at 1 to 60 wt. %. The invention additionally relates to a method for producing the inventive polymerizates and to the utilization thereof in sanitary articles which are used for absorbing body fluids and in bandaging material used for covering wounds.

A process and device are disclosed for preparing (cyclo)aliphatic biuret groups-containing polyisocyanates from (cyclo)aliphatic diisocyanates and steam or a dehydrating substance as reactives that are mixed with each other in a stirring reactor. The reactives flow in opposite current through a cascade-shaped stirring reactor with at least two stages. The distribution of the gaseous reactives in the liquid reactives is intensified by turbulence-generating means built into the stirring reactor. Mutually spaced disks provided with central openings and/or turbulence-generating strips that extend in the longitudinal direction of the stirring reactor are used as turbulence-generating means.
