Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing isocyanates through reaction of the corresponding amines with phosgene in the liquid phase, optionally in the presence of at least one inert medium, in which first the amine and the phosgene are mixed in a mixing chamber (1) to form a reaction mixture and the reaction mixture is fed to a reactor, wherein the amine is added through an opening (3) that is disposed coaxially to the mixing chamber (1) and wherein the phosgene is added through feed openings (5) in at least two planes (7, 9) disposed perpendicular to the axis (11) of the mixing chamber (1), or the phosgene is added through the opening (3) that is coaxial to the mixing chamber and the amine is added through the feed openings (5) in at least two planes (7, 9) disposed perpendicular to the axis (11) of the mixing chamber (1). At least one plane (9) is disposed upstream in the main flow direction of the reaction mixture and at least one plane (7) is disposed downstream relative to the opening (3) disposed coaxially to the mixing chamber (1). The average residence time of the reaction mixture in the mixing chamber (1) is no more than 20 ms.
Abstract:
The continuous or semi-continuous method of brightening organic polyisocyanates with ozone-containing gas, wherein treatment of the organic polyisocyanate is done using an ozone-containing gas that further comprises at least one other inert and/or reactive gas, can be carried out according to the invention in a stirred vessel with a connected storage tank in a sieve-plate column or in a packed column.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method for purifying a chlorine supply that includes a chlorine component, a bromine component, and nitrogen trichloride. The method includes the steps of introducing the chlorine supply into a vaporizer, heating the chlorine supply in the vaporizer to form a vapor, and introducing the vapor into a distillation system to provide purified chlorine gas, a distillate that includes liquid chlorine and the bromine component, and a bottoms component including the nitrogen trichloride. The method also includes the steps of condensing the vapor in a reflux condenser, heating the condensate in a reboiler, removing the purified chlorine gas from the distillation system, and removing the distillate from the distillation system.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for sensing water ingress and the resulting corrosion in systems for producing isocyanates by reacting phosgene with one or more primary amines in a solvent. The invention further relates to an apparatus for producing such isocyanates, in the processing part of which probes for monitoring corrosion are arranged at defined positions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing mixtures of diphenylmethane diamine and polyphenylenepolymethylene polyamines, comprising the steps of a) reaction of aniline with formaldehyde in the presence of hydrochloric acid, b) neutralization of the reaction mixture obtained in step a), c) separation of the organic phase from the aqueous phase, d) processing of the organic phase, e) processing of the aqueous phase, characterized in that step e) comprises at least the steps e1) extraction of the aqueous phase with an organic solvent; e2) stripping the aqueous phase obtained from step e1); e3) absorption of the solution obtained from step e2).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for purifying mixtures comprising 4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, comprising the distillative purification of a mixture I comprising 4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate having a content of hydrolysable chlorine to ASTM D4663-10 of more than 100 ppm by means of a column K1, wherein the gaseous stream consisting of mixture I is contacted in column K1 with at least one liquid compound A which has a boiling point which is the same as or higher than 4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and which has a content of hydrolysable chlorine to ASTM D4663-10 of at most 100 ppm, and wherein the gaseous stream O which is obtained at the top of the column and comprises 4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate has a content of hydrolysable chlorine to ASTM D4663-10 of at most 100 ppm.
