The present invention pertains to the field of toxicological assessments for risk stratification of chemical compounds. Specifically, it relates to a method for diagnosing the pro-pathological effect of compounds which are inducing liver enzymes. It also relates to a method of determining whether a compound is capable of exhibiting pro-pathological effects on the liver by enzyme induction in a subject and to a method of identifying a drug for treating the pro-pathological effect of liver enzyme induction. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a data collection comprising characteristic values of at least five analytes, a data storage medium comprising said data collection, and a system and a device for diagnosing the pro-pathological effect of liver enzyme induction. Finally, the present invention pertains to the use of a group of analytes or means for the determination thereof for the manufacture of a diagnostic device or composition for diagnosing the pro-pathological effect of liver enzyme induction in a subject. For each sex, a different metabolome pattern, i.e. a different set of analytes is disclosed. The liver enzyme induction markers are mainly selected from free fatty acids, but also include various phosphatidylcholines, galactose, 3- and 5-Methoxysphingosine, Cholesterol, Threonic acid, 1, 2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidyl-L-serine, Glycerol, Glycerophosphate, Dodecanol, myo-Inositol-2-monophosphate.

A method for diagnosing hematopoietic toxicity comprises: a) determining the amount of at least one biomarker in a test sample of a subject suspected to suffer from hematopoietic toxicity, and b) comparing the amounts determined in step a) to a reference, whereby hematopoietic toxicity is to be diagnosed. A method for determining whether a compound is capable of inducing such hematopoietic toxicity in a subject, a method of identifying a drug for treating hematopoietic toxicity, a device and a kit for diagnosing hematopoietic toxicity are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a method for providing an animal population having an essentially identical metabolome comprising compiling an animal population being of essentially the same age, keeping said animal population for a time period sufficient for acclimatization under the following housing conditions: (i) constant temperature, (ii) constant humidity, (iii) physical separation of the animals of the animal population, (iv) feeding ad libitum, wherein the food to be fed is essentially free of chemical or micro- bial contaminance, (v) drinking libitum, wherein the drinking liquid is essentially free of chemical or microbial contaminance, (vi) constant illumination period, and providing the animal population after said time period. Further, the present invention relates to methods for the identification of a compound which effects the metabolome of an animal, or methods for the identification of a marker for such compounds. Moreover, the present invention encompasses methods for the identification of such compounds or markers thereof comprising metabolically analyzing a sample from at least one animal of an animal population.
