In further embodiments, methods of forming earth-boring tools comprising bodies with one or more stiff insert support regions are disclosed.

The method is characterised in that the barrier is provided by coating the at least one surface with a substantially non-wettable material and permitting the substantially non-wettable material to at least partially set into a hardened state, positioning the coated preformed component in a vessel and at least partially filling the vessel with granular material prior to the infiltrating of the at least one three-dimensional, preformed component.
