    摘要: An image display device according to first to third aspects of the invention has an image display panel, in which two or more groups of particles having different colors and different charge characteristics are sealed between two substrates, at least one of two substrates being transparent, and, in which the particles, to which an electrostatic field produced by a pair of electrodes provided on respective substrates is applied, are made to fly and move so as to display an image. In the first aspect of the invention, micro-concave portions and/or micro-convex portions are provided to a part of or an overall of a surface of the electrode (first embodiment) or micro-cutout holes are provided to a part of or an overall of a surface of the electrode (second embodiment). Moreover, in the second aspect of the invention, an insulation member having a volume resistance of not less than 1×10 12 [Ω·cm] is coated thinly on a surface of the substrate to which the particles are contacted so as to provide a thin insulation film, or, an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) and a concave-convex average distance (Sm) of a surface of the substrate, to which the particles are contacted, satisfy the predetermined formulas. Further, in the third aspect of the invention, an image display state is read-out by detecting a fly/move current produced when the particles are flown and moved in a pixel.

    摘要: An image display device includes an image display panel for displaying an image as follows. Cells isolated from one another by partitions are formed between two opposing substrates, at least one of which is transparent. Image display media are enclosed in the cells and an electric field is applied to the image display media so as to move the image display media, thereby displaying an image. [1] The partitions are formed by the photolithographic method and the partition shape is formed in a tapered shape having an end width of the rear surface substrate side greater than the end width of the front surface substrate side. [3-1] A plurality of cells are formed so as not to correspond by 1 : 1 with the pixel positions for displaying an image. [3-2] The ratio of the cell area/pixel area is set to be smaller than 4. [2] The image display panel is manufactured as follows. A first layer composed of photo-sensitive colored composition is formed on one of the substrates. A second layer composed of photo-sensitive composition having a higher light transmittance and a greater thickness than the first layer is formed on the first layer. The first layer and the second layer on the substrate are subjected to exposure via a mask and then developed and washed. Thus, colored partitions are formed on the substrate and the other substrate is attached to the colored partitions.

    摘要: An image display device which comprises an image display panel, in which particles or liquid powders as image display media are sealed in cells formed in an isolated manner from one another by partition walls between two opposed substrates, at least one of two substrates being transparent, and, in which the particles or the liquid powders, to which an electrostatic field is applied, are made to move so as to display an image, is characterized in that : (1) the partition walls are manufactured by a photolithography method, and a shape of the partition wall is a taper shape such that a width of an end portion at a side of a rear substrate is larger than that at a side of a front substrate; (3-1) a plurality of cells are arranged in such a manner that they do not correspond one for one to the positions of pixels for displaying the image; (3-2) a ratio of cell area/pixel area is formed to be smaller than 4; and (2) the image display panel is manufactured by: forming a first layer made of photosensitive color composite on one substrate; forming a second layer made of photosensitive composite, which has a light transmission higher than that of the first layer and a thickness larger than that of the first layer, on the first layer; performing an exposure through a mask with respect to the first layer and the second layer on the substrate; performing a developing and a washing with respect to the exposed first and second layers so as to form color partition walls on the substrate; and connecting the other substrate to the color partition walls.
