Bearing areas (3, 4) for bearing the upper rails on the lower rails are configured as bracket areas provided in two substantially diagonally opposite corner areas and are associated with guiding means (15-18). In a first bearing area (3), two bearing guides (15, 16; 18, 16) are provided spaced apart at an angle and receive forces that are vertically directed in the direction of seat occupancy and forces that are horizontally directed. The tapered ends (8-9, 21-24) of the lower rail (2) and the upper rail (1) are configured as substantially U-shaped interlocking profiles in the first bearing area (3).
