The present invention is directed to a low viscosity liquid crystal material having a low threshold voltage, a high clearing point and a small temperature-dependency of the threshold voltage. The liquid crystal composition which may be used for a liquid crystal display element, contains e.g. a first component (I-1), a second component (II-a), (II-b) and a third component (III), respectively in amounts of 3 to 40%, 10 to 70% and 10 to 70% based upon the weight of the composition.
