A sensor device for detecting a motion state of a motor vehicle. The sensor device includes at least one laser unit having a light source for emitting coherent light which is transmitted in the direction of a roadway surface, and an interference detector which is designed to detect at least one measurement variable which characterizes interference between the light scattered at the surface and the light of the light source. The measurement variable represents a speed component of the sensor device and/or a distance between the sensor device and the roadway surface. The laser unit is coupled to an evaluation device which is designed to determine, from the measurement variable, at least one variable which characterizes the motion state of the vehicle, in particular a speed component of the center of gravity of the vehicle, a rotational angle or a rotation rate of the vehicle.

The invention relates to a method for controlling the driving stability of a vehicle, wherein a processor detects variables that characterize a driving situation of the vehicle. The method is characterized by a) determining a driver action on the basis of the variables detected by the process, b) determining a road performance of the vehicle to be expected in future on the basis of the determined driver action, c) examining the road performance to be expected in order to determine whether a critical driving situation has to be expected, and d) already initiating a brake and/or engine intervention when the road performance is still stable but a critical driving situation has to be expected.

The invention relates to a system for stabilizing a motor vehicle (101), comprising - at least one speed sensor (111) for detecting a longitudinal speed and a transversal speed of the motor vehicle (101); - a calculation unit, designed for calculating a side slip angle of the motor vehicle (101) from the detected longitudinal speed of the vehicle and the detected transversal speed of the vehicle; - an evaluation unit coupled with the calculation unit, designed for comparing the side slip angle with a predetermined threshold value in order to detect an oversteering situation, when the side slip angle exceeds the threshold value; - a control unit coupled to the evaluation unit and an actuator (109) influencing the driving behavior of the motor vehicle (101), wherein the control unit is designed for controlling the actuator (109) in an oversteering situation. The invention further relates to a system, which is suitable for carrying out said method.
