More particularly, this invention relates to heat transfer fluids comprising alkylmethylsiloxane fluids or mixtures of alkylmethylsiloxane fluids. The present invention further relates to the use of alkylmethylsiloxane fluids in devices utilized for cooling. The heat transfer fluids of this invention also display high flashpoints while retaining low viscosities at low temperatures.

Novel silicone acrylate polymers and a method for their preparation is disclosed. These polymers are formed from silicone acrylates, silicone diacrylates or mixtures with organic acrylates. The copolymer formed from the reaction mixture of silicone acrylates and organic acrylates is useful in enhancing glass reinforced polyesters.

The present invention is for chlorine end-terminated organosiloxanes and a hydrosilylation process for their preparation. The process comprises contacting a chlorine end-terminated (organohydrogen)siloxane and an α-olefin in the presence of a platinum catalyst, at a temperature of 50°C. to 200°C. The products of this process are unexpectedly chlorine end-terminated organosiloxanes.

A process for the chlorodephenylation of a phenyl-containing disilane to produce alkylhalodisilanes is described. The process comprises (A) adding an aluminum halide, AlX₃, to a phenyl-containing disilane, having the formula, R 3-a (C₆H₅) a SiSiR 3-b (C₆H₅) b , wherein the phenyl-containing disilane has a melting point lower than about 50°C.; and the aluminum halide is added to a concentration greater than about 1 mole percent relative to the phenyl-containing disilane; (B) contacting the phenyl-containing disilane and the aluminum halide, in the absence of a solvent, with excess anhydrous hydrogen halide gas at a temperature less than about 50°C.; (C) facilitating conversion of the phenyl-containing disilane to the alkylhalodisilane; and (D) isolating and recovering the alkylhalodisilane.
