What is disclosed and claimed herein as the invention is a method for selective separation of certain gases from contaminated gases, the method comprising contacting a contaminated gas with an aminofunctional silicon compound selected from silanes, siloxanes, mixtures of silanes and siloxanes, mixtures of silanes with non-reactive organic fluids, mixtures of silanes with non-reactive silicone fluids, mixtures of siloxanes with non-reactive organic fluids and mixtures of siloxanes and non-reactive silicone fluids, for a time sufficient and at a temperature sufficient to reduce the contaminants in the contaminated gas.

Fluorescent organopolysiloxane compounds which bear two or more reactive silicon-bonded sites are useful as durable markers in curable silicone compositions. Having more than one reactive site the compounds participate in the curing reaction of the curable composition and thus do not adversley affect its curing behavior. The resulting fluorescent curable compositions are particularly useful in the preparation of adhesive-release coatings.

A method for enhancing the dielectric properties of new or in-service electrical cable is disclosed, the method comprising supplying the interstitial void space of the cable's conductor with a fluid mixture comprising
(A) an antitreeing agent; and (B) a water-reactive compound,
wherein (B) has a diffusion coefficient of at least 1 x 10⁻⁷ cm²/second at 50°C. in the insulation of the cable and the mixture has an initial viscosity of ≦100 cP (mPa·s) at 25°C. The instant method provides a more symmetrical distribution of dielectric enhancing fluid in the insulation than prior art approaches and results in a significant reduction in cable treatment time.

Anhydrous glucose is the encapsulating material although other meltable sugars and biocompatible materials such as d-sorbitol, maltose, d-xylose, fructose, citric acid monohydrate and ascorbic acid can be used. The compositions have utility in the food, drug, pharmaceutical, medical, detergent, agricultural, fermentation and cosmetic fields.

Microparticies, such as microspheres and microcapsules, comprising a solid organopolysiloxane are prepared by curing a dispersion of discrete entities by means of a Michael-type addition reaction. The discrete entities are dispersed in a fluid continuous phase and are sphere-like particles of a curable liquid organopolysiloxane composition, or such a liquid organopolysiloxane composition containing a material to be encapsulated. The microparticles may be elastomeric or resinous and are useful as filler particles and time-release capsules.

Adhesive-releasing silicone coatings are provided for substrates by applying a composition consisting essentially of a polydiorganosiloxane substituted with methyl, ethyl, propyl, or hydroxyl radicals and an ultraviolet radiation photosensitizer to a substrate, and exposing the applied solution to ultraviolet radiation. By the method of this invention said polydiorganosiloxanes can be crosslinked on substrates to furnish, e.g., adhesive-releasing coatings on paper.
