More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for producing ultra-pure water which comprises boiling a raw water to vaporize off the volatile components from the raw water, subsequently generating steam from the water, contacting the steam with a hydrophobic, porous, gas-permeable and liquid-impermeable membrane to make the steam permeate the membrane, and then condensing the steam, as well as to an apparatus for producing said ultra-pure water and a process for using said ultra-pure water.

This invention relates to a gasification process for a coal gasification furnace which comprises ejecting coal and an oxidizing agent along the circumferential direction of a gasification chamber (10) to form a whirling stream, making the two contact and react with each other in the gasification chamber (10), thereby producing a combustible gas from the coal while making ash in the coal melt into the form of slag, and withdrawing the slag through a slag tap (3) provided at the lower part of the gasification chamber (10) into a slag cooling chamber, wherein said process comprises causing the whirling stream to produce pressure difference such that the pressure decreases from the wall surface of the gasification chamber (10) toward the central part thereof, forming, by use of the pressure difference, a recycle system wherein a part of the combustible gas produced is introduced from the gasification chamber to the slag cooling chamber and returned again therefrom to the gasification chamber (10), and heating the slag tap (3) by means of the circulating combustible gas, and to a process therefor.

A coal gasification composite power generating plant has a coal gasification plant (60) and a composite power generating plant (61). The coal gasification plant has a low-pressure steam generator for recovering heat from the furnace wall of a pressurized fluidized bed type coal gasification furnace (3), and a high-pressure steam generator (7, 47) disposed at the outlet of the gasification furnace and adapted to recover heat from the unrefined gas coming from the gasification furnace. The composite power generating plant includes a gas turbine (17) which uses the gas generated in the gasification plant as the fuel gas, a boiler (20) for recovering heat from the exhaust gas of the gas turbine, and high-pressure and low-pressure steam turbines (42, 43) which operate with the steam generated by the boiler. The high-pressure steam generated in the high-pressure steam generator is introduced to the high-pressure steam turbine, while the steam generated in the low-pressure steam generator is introduced into the low-pressure steam turbine, thereby to effectively recover the energy.

The invention provides a coal gasification process and apparatus therefor in which coal (1) or other hydrocarbon is carried by a gas produced by an air separating apparatus, supplied into a coal gasifying oven (16) along with a gasifying agent also produced by the air separating apparatus and reacted at a high temperature and under a high pressure to produce a combustible gas (3). According to this invention, since both gasifying agent and coal carrier gas used for coal gasification can be produced at the same time from air (4) without using much energy for the production, the equipments necessary for the gasification can be noticeably reduced in size and also the cost of producing electricity by coal gas power generation can be reduced.
