A composition for coating metal surfaces based on crosslinking polyester resins as an organic constituent, which, based on its total mass, contains from 4 to 20% by weight of aluminum flakes and not more than 0.1% by weight of compounds containing isocyanate groups. The composition preferably comprises, as an organic binder, at least one hydroxylated polyester resin, preferably having a mean molar mass in the range from 2000 to 15 000, and a crosslinking component for the hydroxylated polyester resin and an acidic crosslinking catalyst. A process for applying the composition to metal ribbons in a belt process is likewise claimed. The layer application is adjusted within the range from 3 to 30 μm according to the end use, for which double coating may be advantageous. For example, the composition may serve as a “galvanization replacement”.

The invention relates to conductive, weldable anti-corrosion compositions with a base consisting of (blocked) polyurethane resins, epoxide resins and nitrogenous resins and conductive fillers. The inventive compositions are suitable for coating metal surfaces, especially steel sheets, using the coil-coating technique, and are characterised by a low burning-in temperature, by a significant reduction of white rust on galvanised sheet steel in the salt spray test and in that the organic coating adheres better to the metallic substrate. These coatings also provide adequate protection against corrosion even with low chrome plating, preferably also with Cr-free pre-processing techniques. Sheets coated in this way can be spot-welded using any conventional technique.

The invention relates to an electrically conductive, weldable, anti-corrosion composition that is substantially devoid of solvents, for coating metal surfaces. Said composition contains the following, (in relation to the total composition): a) between 5 and 98 wt. % of an organic binding agent; b) between 0 and 15 wt. % of an anti-corrosion pigment, c) between 20 and 90 wt. % of a conductivity pigment with a density of at least 3 g/cm and/or between 2 and 20 wt. % of a conductivity pigment with a density of less than 3 g/cm . The viscosity of said composition permits it to be applied in a coil-coating method. Preferably, the percentage by weight of said conductivity pigment increases as the density of the pigment increases. The binding agent can be cured by the action of high-energy radiation and preferably contains the following components: aa) at least one polyester resin, urethane resin or epoxy-modified (meth)acrylate resin; ab) at least one reactive thinner; and ac) at least one photoinitiator. According to said method for applying this type of anti-corrosion composition, in a preliminary step, the metal surface is brought into contact with a liquid that contains at least one low-molecular organic compound with at least one group that can be cross-linked by a radical polymerisation and at least one H-active group. The invention also relates to correspondingly coated sheet metal and metal parts, which can be subsequently painted, and to a method for producing painted metal parts of this type.

Disclosed is a method for coating metals, especially zinc and the alloys thereof. According to said method, the metal a) is subjected to a conversion treatment by contacting the same with a conversion solution containing at least one simple or complex salt of at least one metal M, and c) is contacted with a coating agent which contains c1) a total of 5 to 30 percent by weight of one or several aliphatic crosslinking baking urethane resins, c2) a total of 10 to 30 percent by weight of one or several crosslinking agents for component c1, and c3) 4 to 30 percent by weight of one or several anticorrosive pigments, and the coating obtained in partial step c) is hardened. The inventive method is preferably carried out as a continuous no-rinse process. The invention further relates to a metal sheet with a coating that is obtained according to the disclosed method, a shaped part made from such a metal sheet or an object that contains such a metal sheet or a shaped part therefrom, and the use of such a metal sheet, shaped part, or object in the exterior zone of buildings.
