Disclosed is a catalytic reaction process in which a substance in a liquid reaction system is catalytically reacted with a gaseous substance hardly soluble in the liquid reaction system in the presence of a non-carboneous solid catalyst, a part of the surface of which is non-compatible with the liquid reaction system or with the liquid reaction system and a product formed by the catalytic reaction. According to this process, mild reaction conditions can be selected and adopted and separation or recovery of the catalyst can be remarkably facilitated. This catalytic reaction process can be applied to various liquid-gas reactions and can be applied especially advantageously to oxidation and reduction of organic substances and inorganic ions for disposal of waste waters and recovery of valuable substances.

A high-temperature oxide superconducting material in a single crystal form or polycrystal form comprising a phase of LnR₂Cu₃O x wherein Ln is yttrium or a rare earth metal(s), R is at least one element selected from the group of barium, calcium and strontium and x is 6.5 to 7, and having a high critical current density, and containing oriented crystal grains or crystals free of any twins, is prepared by synthesizing said material in the presence of at least one element selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and bismuth to form said material.
