    摘要: A main control unit (100) for controlling a dot printing element (1-17) in a laser beam printer has a first control means for controlling the dot printing element (1-17) so as to print a predetermined dot size in accordance with an existence of a dot signal in an image information signal. The main control unit (100) has a second control means and a control selection means (160). The second control means controls the dot printing element so as to vary a size of the dot of a dither matrix. The control selection means (160) operates selectively the first control means and the second control means. A gradation data is transmitted to the printer without conversion of a dither matrix data. The printer can print an image in response to in either cases of a character pattern dot data signal and a gradation data signal. The printer has a gradation signal on an interference, a gradation converting means (150) and a laser modulating means. The printer can connect in either cases of an existence state and a non-existence state of the gradation signal.

    摘要: A thermal head (1) is pressed against a platen (62;12) consisting of rubber through a recording paper (13) or a heat sensitive paper. The thermal head (1) is provided a head base (2), a glaze layer portion (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3a', 3d') mounted on the head base (2), and a heating resistor portion (4a, 4b, 4a', 4b') provided on the glaze layer portion (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3a', 3d'). An unit area surface pressure (P) applied from the glaze layer portion (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3a', 3d',) of the thermal head (1) to the recording paper (13) or the heat sensitive paper is set to not less than 0.3 kg/mm 2. A hardness (Hs) of the rubber of the platen (62;12) is adapted of about Hs 40°-Hs 100°. The high areas (13a) of the surface of the recording paper (13) or the heat sensitive paper are flattened to increase the smoothness of the surface of the recording paper (13) or the heat sensitive paper. A high quality printed product of the thermal transfer printer or the thermal printer can be obtained even when the relatively rough recording paper (13) or the heat sensitive paper is used as the object paper.
