There is provided an organic electroluminescence (EL) device comprising a negative electrode and a positive electrode and, interposed therebetween, one or multiple organic compound layers including at least a luminescent layer, wherein at least one of the organic compound layers contains the above arylamine compound, or contains the arylamine compound together with a luminescent material, or wherein the organic compound layers include a laminate of a hole transport layer containing the arylamine compound and a luminescent layer composed of a phosphorescent metal complex and a host material. The organic EL device exhibits high luminance, high thermal stability, prolonged operating life, excellent hole transport and high luminous efficiency. The novel arylamine compound realizes the organic EL device.

A novel compound having spiro bond with specified structure; and a material for luminescent coating formation, comprising an organic solvent solution containing the compound having spiro bond. There is further provided an organic electroluminescence element comprising a pair of electrodes consisting of a positive electrode and a negative electrode and, interposed therebetween, at least one organic thin-film layer including at least a light emitting layer, wherein at least one of the above at least one organic thin-film layer contains the above compound having spiro bond. The organic electroluminescence element excels in heat resistance, and the thin films as constituents of the element are highly stable. The organic electroluminescence element emits uniform blue light and, irrespective of low voltage, exhibits high luminance and high luminous efficiency. There are provided the compound having spiro bond and material for luminescent coating formation for realizing the organic electroluminescence element.

A novel double-bridged transition metal compound of general formula (I), wherein M is a metal element selected from among Group 3 to 10 metal elements and lanthanoid metal elements of the periodic table; E?1 and E2¿ are each cyclopentadienyl, indenyl or the like and are bridged through A?1 and A2; A1 and A2¿ are each a hydrocarbon bridging group having at least one carbon atom; X is a σ-bonding ligand; and Y is a Lewis base; double bridged biscyclopentadienyl and bisindenyl derivatives useful in the preparation of the above transition metal compound; a process for the preparation thereof; a polymerization catalyst for olefins comprising the transition metal compound; and a process for producing an olefinic polymer using the catalyst. The above polymerization catalyst exhibits high activity and copolymerizability, and can efficiently give olefinic polymers having a uniform composition and a narrow molecular weight distribution.

Disclosed is an organic EL device having high luminance and long life. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such an organic EL device. Specifically disclosed is an organic EL device wherein an organic thin film (20) composed of one or more layers including at least a light-emitting layer (24) is interposed between an anode (10) and a cathode (30). The organic EL device is characterized in that the oxygen concentration in at least one layer (22, 24, 26) of the organic thin film (20) is not more than 2000 ppm. Also specifically disclosed is a method for manufacturing an organic EL device which is characterized in that a layer having an oxygen concentration of not more than 2000 ppm is produced by a wet process.
