The server selection may become sub- optimal as a result of this movement. A first CDN may learn about MN mobility event via the MN, an access network node, the server, or another node. The first CDN may trigger reselection by upstream CDN by sending a CDNI reselection request message, including information for the upstream CDN to perform request routing for the MN with the specified content, at a different location. The upstream CDN may perform the request routing procedure. The upstream CDN may return the request routing result to first CDN. The initial server may send a redirection message back to the application, which may interpret the message and continue streaming from a different server.

The core network (CN) entity may detect a condition related to the MNCR. The condition may be indicative of, for example, an overload of a computing resource in the CN entity of the mobile network. Based on the detected condition, the CN entity may generate a cloud computing resource (CCR) request. The CN entity may transmit the CCR request. The CN entity may generate a provisioning request. The CN entity may redirect a service request to the CCR. The CN entity may transfer one or more sessions to the CCR. If a condition detected at the CN entity is a security threat, the CN entity may transfer the sessions to a CCR.

A method and apparatus for automatically discovering and retrieving content based on a content identity (ID) are disclosed. User agents and content control entities in the network interact for registering the content, discovering the content hosts and sources, and initiating and controlling the content session. A content name resolution handler (CNRH) is provided for mapping content IDs to network locations or addresses. Two or more content service provider networks may interconnect each other to discover and retrieve the content. A content request from a client device includes a content ID that uniquely identifies a content object. The content ID is resolved with a CNRH to obtain identity information of at least one content provider for serving the content request, and the content request is forwarded to the selected content provider. The content request may be routed to the selected content provider via IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) control plane entities.

A CDNI router content delivery network (CDN) may establish CDNIs with upstream and downstream CDNs. The CDNI router CDN may receive a CDNI route advertisement message from at least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs. The CDNI router CDN may update at least one end-user-based CDNI routing table based on Internet protocol (IP) address blocks in the CDNI route advertisement message. The CDNI router CDN may transmit an updated CDNI route advertisement message to at least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs. At least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs may update at least one end-user-based CDNI routing table based on the end user IP address blocks in the updated CDNI route advertisement message.
