In one embodiment, an LED light bulb 1 includes an LED module 2, a base portion on which the LED module 2 is disposed, and a glove 4 attached to the base portion 3. The LED module 2 includes an ultraviolet to violet light-emitting LED chip 8 mounted on a substrate 7. A lighting circuit and a bayonet cap 6 are provided in and on the base portion 3. A fluorescent film 9 is provided on an inner surface of the glove 4, and emits white light by absorbing ultraviolet to violet light emitted from the LED chip 8. The fluorescent film 9 has a film thickness in a range of 80 to 800 µm. In the LED light bulb 1, an amount of ultraviolet light which leaks from the glove 4 is 0.1 mW/nm/lm or less.

Provided is a white light source system that reproduces the light-emission properties of sunlight having temperature colors and light-emission spectrum shapes that change over time, said white light source system being used for office and domestic illumination. As a result of the present invention, a white light source system is provided that includes a plurality of white light sources. A relationship formula is fulfilled whereby the absolute value is no more than 0.15 for the difference between P (λ) × V (λ) / P (λmax1) × V (λmax1) and (B (λ) × V (λ)) / B (λmax2) ×V (λmax2), when the light-emission spectrum for each white light source is P (λ), the light-emission spectrum for black body radiation indicating the same color temperature as each white light source is B (λ), the spectrum for spectral luminous efficiency is V (λ), the maximum wavelength for P (λ) × V (λ) is λmax1, and the maximum wavelength for B (λ) × V (λ) is λmax2. The white light source system is characterized by the light-emission properties of the white light emitted from the system continuously changing over time, as a result of changing the mixing ratio for light from a plurality of white light sources.

A white light source system being an illumination light source for a variety of target objects, such as exhibits in an art gallery, that required high color-rendering properties similar to natural light and being capable of: taking into consideration regional and time differences and reproducing sunlight shone on to earth; and being capable of radiating white light having reduced ultraviolet or blue light-emission components that may have ain and-verse impart on paintings, etc. The white light source system uses at least four types of white light sources comprising a combination of ultraviolet and violet light-emitting LEDs and phosphors. As a result of adjusting the types of phosphor material used and the mixing proportions for the white light sources, the white light source system continuously reproduces daily changes in sunlight for a specified, season and a specified region and reproduces a white light that takes safety issues into consideration by improving the device structure.
