摘要: A method of maintaining a state in a subject (12) comprises generating a pacing signal (20) at a first frequency, presenting to the subject an output based upon the generated pacing signal, measuring one or more physiological parameters of the subject, detecting that the measured parameter(s) conform to a desired state in the subject, and either removing the presentation to the subject of the output based upon the generated pacing signal, or generating a new pacing signal at a second frequency, and presenting to the subject an output based upon the generated new pacing signal. The method can further comprise, prior to the detecting that the measured parameter(s) conform to a desired state in the subject, adjusting the pacing signal according to feedback from the measured parameter(s). In a preferred embodiment, the method also further comprises detecting that the measured parameter(s) no longer conform to a desired state in the subject, and presenting to the subject an output based upon the original generated pacing signal.

摘要: An apparatus and method for modifying a psychophysiological state of a subject (150) is presented. The method comprises the steps of: detecting a psychophysiological measure of the subject; processing the detected physiological measure so as to provide a signal indicative of a psychophysiological state of the subject; outputting at least one of an audio stimulus, visual stimulus, haptic stimulus, temperature stimulus and scent stimulus (176, 177) to the subject the output stimulus being derived from an audiovisual data signal provided to the apparatus; and adjusting the output stimulus in real time based on the signal indicative of a psychophysiological state of the subject.

摘要: A driving circuit for driving an in-plane moving particle device has a pixel (P) comprising movable charged particles (PA). The pixel (P) has a reservoir electrode (RE), a display electrode (DE), and a gate electrode (GE) laterally placed in-between the reservoir electrode (RE) and the display electrode (DE). The driving circuit (DC) comprises a driver (DR), a controller (CO) which receives an input signal (OS) representing an image to be displayed on the moving particle device. The controller (CO) controls the driver (DR) to supply a first voltage difference (VDl) between the reservoir electrode (RE) and the gate electrode (GE) and a second voltage difference (VD2) between the gate electrode (GE) and the display electrode (DE). The image is written to the pixel (P) during a write phase (TW) by moving particles (PA) from the reservoir electrode (RE) via the gate electrode (GE) to the display electrode (DE) if the optical state of the pixel (P) should change in conformity with the image. If during the write phase (TW) the optical state of the pixel (P) should not change, the first voltage difference (VDl) has a first write level and the second voltage difference (VD2) has a second write level, both write levels are selected to repulse the particles (PA) from the gate electrode (GE). During a repulsion period (TR), the first voltage difference (VDl) has a level more repulsive to the particles than the first write level, and/or the second voltage difference (VD2) has a level more repulsive than the second write level.

摘要: An apparatus for managing and monitoring a sensing device encapsulated in a compartment formed within a medium is disclosed. The medium compartment includes a release mechanism (210) suitable for exposing the sensing device (310). The apparatus comprises an active component (510) connected to the encapsulated sensing device, the active component providing a measurement from the sensing device to a sensing measurement device. In one aspect of the invention a second active device (420) connected to an electrode associated with the release mechanism, the second active component (420) selectively providing an electrical signal to the electrode for activating the release mechanism (210) and exposing the encapsulated sensing device (310). In another aspect of the invention, a plurality of the apparatus disclosed may be incorporated into an array that is electrically connected to a select circuit for providing a voltage to selected ones of the first and second active devices for switching the active devices to a conductive state. A release circuit selectively provides a voltage to selected ones of the second active device (420), wherein the voltage is suitable for operating an associated compartment release mechanism and exposing the associated sensing device.

摘要: This invention relates to a training device (10) to be attached to or be worn by an animal (103) for training the animal to adapt its behavior to various environments (105-108), where the training device is operated by a trainer (102) of the animal. The training involves selecting various training setups, which are adapted to the various environments. A receiving means is used for receiving an input from the trainer, or from a training setup device used by the trainer, for initiating a new training setup. A detecting means is used for detecting parameters relating to the animal, wherein the parameters are regularly compared to the training setup. An output means is used for influencing the behavior of the animal if one or more of the detected parameters contradict with the training setup.

摘要: The invention relates to a display device for visually reconstructing an image (330) from an encoded image (320), such a device being particularly useful in the field of visual cryptography. The display device has two stacked liquid crystalline layers (410, 420) with individually addressable pixels. One layer (420) renders encoded image data together with a randomization pattern, and the other layer (410) only renders a randomization pattern. If the patterns match, the display device shows a visually reconstructed image (330) to a viewer. Means are provided for improving an optical match between the LC layers, such as a birefringent layer (414) between the two LC layers. Alternatively, two twisted nematic LC layers can be used having opposite twist directions. Such means were found to improve an image quality of the visually reconstructed image, and can in fact be advantageously applied in any display system including a plurality of LC layers cooperating for forming an image.
