An electronic ballast for a fluorescent lamp includes a rectifier circuit (11), a filter circuit (16), a high frequency generating and control circuit (17), a starting circuit (18) for the fluorescent tube and main (14) and auxiliary (13) circuits used to increase the power factor of the ballast and to suppress the harmonic current interference. Because of the introduction of the main and the auxiliary current-uninterrupted circuits, the input curent is continuous and follows the variation with the input voltage and the power factor of the ballast is increased while the post high frequency generating and control circuit tends to be stable in operation. Furthermore, the interference of the harmonic current for the ballast will be suppressed effectively, the contamination to power network will be reduced and the electrical security in operation will be enhanced.

According to the control circuit of the invention, the signal detection unit (3) receives a light up signal to trigger the switching of the switch unit (4) so as to enable the frequency converter (5) to convert an oscillation frequency of the oscillator unit (2) of the fluorescent lamp, such that a filament current of the fluorescent lamp could be increased to boost the light flux rate of the fluorescent lamp. Thus, a normal brightness of the fluorescent lamp could be rapidly reached in a relatively short time.

For example, a layer of shielding material is applied on the lamp tube (2) or a glass bulb (4) of the electronic energy saving lamp, wherein the layer of shielding material is formed of indium tin oxide, or a shielding material formed with a mixture of absolute ethyl alcohol, SnCl 4 or SnCl 2 , and InCl 3 or CdCl 3 or SbCl 3 , which is evenly spread and has a high light transmittance whereby the illumination efficiency of the electronic energy saving lamp will not be affected and the electromagnetic radiation can be effectively shielded.

A fluorescent lamp preheating start-up device to be used in the preheating start-up of fluorescent lamp. It consists of hot bonded temperature sensitive resistance layer (sheet) and voltage sensitive switching resistance layer (sheet), a silver conductive layer is coated between the two layers, and the periphery thereof is sealed with a sealing film. A lead is led out from each of the surface electrodes of said two resistance layers (sheets) of different characteristics, respectively. In operation, it is serially connected in the loop of the filament after the parallel connection of the present device with the resonant capacitor C in the electronic ballast. The device has both the characteristic of temperature resistance and the function of voltage switch. In normal operation of the light tube, the power consumption of the present device is only 0.4 to 5% of that of an ordinary PTC device. In addition, the self-temperature-rise is low and the starting time is appropriate.
