Es wird eine Niederdruckentladungslampe beschrieben mit einem Sockelgehäuse (10), einem Entladungsgefäß (2), dessen Endabschnitte an einem Endabschnitt des Sockelgehäuses befestigt sind, und einem Kontaktierungssystem zur elektrischen Kontaktierung der Lampe, das sich an dem vom Entladungsgefäß abgewandten Endabschnitt des Sockelgehäuses (10) befindet, wobei die Niederdruckentladungslampe einen leitfähigen Abschnitt (5) mit einem elektrisch leitfähigen Pulver in der Kittmasse des Sockelgehäuses (10) aufweist, der mit dem Kontaktierungssystem in elektrischer Verbindung steht und benachbart zum Entladungsgefäß (2) im Sockelgehäuses (10) in einer solchen Weise angeordnet ist, dass ein elektrischer Schluss um das Entladungsgefäß (2) gebildet wird. Auf diese Weise lässt sich die Zündspannung der Lampe verringern. Optional wird in Ergänzung dazu der Querschnitt der Ansetzstege erhöht, wodurch sich auch die Geschwindigkeit des Lichtanlaufstromes erhöht.

A discharge tube arrangement (10, 30) for a compact fluorescent lamp is provided which has a central axis (18) and longitudinal end portions, and is formed of at least one discharge tube made of glass / encloses a discharge volume which is filled with a discharge gas and has a fluorescent phosphor coating disposed on an inner surface portion of the tube. The tube forms a continuous arc path and has electrodes disposed at each end of the arc path. The discharge tube arrangement comprises a first cold chamber (13, 33) in order to control and maintain a required mercury vapor pressure, located in a longitudinal end portion of the tube arrangement. The discharge tube arrangement is further provided with at least one second cold chamber (14, 34), positioned between the longitudinal end portions of the discharge tube arrangement. The at least one second cold chamber is positioned on the wall of the tube, and has a cold chamber wall protruding substantially away from the central axis of the discharge tube arrangement.

A light source is configured to emit narrow peaks at discrete spectral bands, especially primary color wavelengths, added to simulate the effect of a broadband light source. A subject is provided with a pigment, examples being certain rare earth lanthanides, with a strong absorption peak at a corresponding narrow spectral band. The pigment has a nominal hue under true broadband light. When illuminated by the narrow band source, the absorption peak eliminates the contribution of one of the primary colors, producing a distinct shift in hue of the pigmented subject. The change in hue cannot be anticipated from the appearance of illuminated subjects that lack the pigment, which remain normal. The narrow absorption peak is not noticeable under unmatched light sources or true broadband light sources, e.g., sunlight. The hue shift effect is useful for security authentication, informational and decorative applications.
