摘要: A multi-optical surface optical design for generating multiple focal planes with identical image data displayed at substantially the same time to generate the perception of varying focal depths is described. The multi-optical surface optical design can include a device comprising reflective optical surfaces that can be arranged on top of one another and configured to generate multiple focal planes and an image source for projecting image data onto the reflective optical surfaces. The technologies described can cause image data to be rendered in a focal plane corresponding to a desired focal distance and multiple copies of the image can be perceived in other focal planes of the multiple focal planes at substantially the same time as the image data is rendered in the focal plane. Each copy of the multiple copies can be presented with a perceived degree of sharpness such that each copy is out-of-focus.

摘要: Examples are disclosed herein that relate to reducing image leakage in a see-through display system. One disclosed example provides a see-through display system including a narrowband light source configured to emit light within a first spectral band, a polarized image producing stage configured to polarize the light emitted by the narrowband light source and to produce a polarized image, and a see-through optical system configured to receive the polarized image from the polarized image producing stage and to transfer the polarized image to a display output. The see-through optical system further includes a narrowband polarizer positioned to receive light from the narrowband light source and the polarized image producing stage, the narrowband polarizer being configured to polarize light within a second spectral band that is at least partially overlapping with the first spectral band.

摘要: Embodiments relating to a multi-mode display device are disclosed. For example in one disclosed embodiment a multi-mode display device includes a principal and a secondary image display mounted in a common housing configured to alternately emit light through a common transparent region in the viewing surface. The multi-mode display device is configured to display a first image on the principal image display at a first resolution or display a second image on the secondary image display of higher resolution than the first image and on a virtual plane behind the viewing surface of the display device. The multi-mode display device is configured to compare a detected eye relief distance to a predetermined threshold and display the image on the appropriate image display and set the other image display to a non-display state.

摘要: Embodiments relating to a wearable multi-mode display system are disclosed. In one disclosed embodiment a first compact image is displayed in a first display mode via a display device, with the first compact image having a display resolution corresponding to a first application. While in the first display mode, a principal user input is received from the user's wrist or hand. In response, a second, different compact image is displayed. When the device is less than a predetermined distance from the user, an application image having a greater display resolution is displayed in a second display mode. While in the second display mode, a secondary user input is received from the user's wrist or hand. In response, a graphical user interface element is controlled within the application image.
