A second mold is placed on a planar surface of a first mold having the planar surface, thereby forming a first mold cavity. The first mold cavity is filled with a first material slurry which contains a first material powder, a dispersant, and a gelling agent, so as to mold the slurry, and the molded slurry is caused to set, thereby forming a first molded part on the planar surface of the first mold. A third mold is placed on the planar surface of the first mold from which the second mold is removed and on which the first molded part is formed, thereby forming a second mold cavity. The second mold cavity is filled with a second material slurry which contains a second material powder different in material from the first material powder, a dispersant, and a gelling agent, so as to mold the slurry in such a manner that the slurry comes into contact with the first molded part, and the molded slurry is caused to set, thereby forming a second molded part on the planar surface of the first mold. By this procedure, there can be provided a molded body in which two types of molded parts of different materials are bonded together and which exhibits high bonding strength between the bonding surfaces of the two types of molded parts.

A gas separating body is disclosed which comprises a porous base composed of a first ceramic and a gas separating layer containing zeolite which is arranged on the surface of the base. The gas separating layer contains, in addition to zeolite, a thermal expansion coefficient-regulating material which is composed of a second ceramic having a thermal expansion coefficient satisfying a predetermined relation so that the difference of thermal expansion coefficient with the porous base can be reduced. The gas separating body can be preferably used particularly when carbon dioxide (CO2) or the like is selectively separated from a mixed gas such as natural gas.

A process for producing a zeolite molding characterized in that the process comprises adding a tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (TPAOH) solution and tetrapropylammonium bromide (TPABr) to silica sol to thereby obtain a preparation liquid, heating the preparation liquid in a sealed vessel under such conditions that crystallization and/or precipitation would not occur in the preparation liquid, drying the preparation liquid after heating treatment, molding the thus obtained dry gel and effecting crystallization of the molded dry gel in steam. This process enables efficiently producing a zeolite molding on which a zeolite film can be formed and maintained without cracking and which when used as a gas separation film such as molecular sieve film or a pervaporation film, satisfies both requirements for decrease of pressure loss and sustenance and enhancement of mechanical strength.

The gas separator fixing structure of the present invention is characterized in that it is provided with a gas separator 10 having a gas separation membrane 30 formed on at least one surface of a tubular support 31 having a through hole 7 in axial direction and comprising porous ceramics, a cap-like metal member 1 and a ring-shaped metal member 4 are fixed to one and the other open end of the gas separator 10 through seal members, respectively, and seal members are gland packings 11 and 12. A gas separating device can be provided in which there hardly occurs breakage of the tubular support constituting the gas separator 10 due to the thermal stress and there hardly occurs reduction of air-tightness between the gas separator 10 and the supporter supporting the gas separator caused by load of heat cycles, and besides which can be used even under the conditions of high temperatures.
