摘要: Process for the preparation of a porous polyimide membrane comprising the following steps:
i- from a starting polymer material comprising at least one of the following polyamic acid, PAA, selected among an electronically neutral polyamic acid, enPAA, and a negatively charged polyamic acid, NPAA, comprising cations to maintain electroneutrality, carrying out an acid-base reaction in water to obtain a highly negatively charged polyamic acid, HNPAA, comprising cations to maintain electroneutrality having a molar ratio of [total amounts of cationic charges] / [total amount of carboxylic functions of the PAA] from 0.90 to 1 ;
ii- performing a reaction involving a phase inversion technique ; and
iii- carrying out an imidization reaction on the HNPAA to obtain the porous polyimide membrane.-

摘要: The invention is an improved method of making a carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membrane in which a precursor polymer is pyrolyzed to form a carbon molecular sieve membrane that is then exposed to a conditioning atmosphere comprised of a target permeate gas molecule such as ethylene when the membrane is desired to separate it from a light hydrocarbon gas stream. The exposure to the ethylene desirably occurs prior to the CMS permeance and selectivity combination substantially changing (e.g., within 5 days) of cooling from the pyrolyzing temperature. The CMS membranes have shown an improved combination of selectivity and permeance as well as stability and are useful to separate gases in gas streams such methane from natural gas, oxygen from air and ethylene or propylene from light hydrocarbon streams.

摘要: Provided is a separation membrane that when used in membrane separation of a mixture of a linear hydrocarbon and a branched hydrocarbon and/or cyclic hydrocarbon of equivalent carbon number to the linear hydrocarbon, can efficiently separate the linear hydrocarbon and the branched hydrocarbon and/or cyclic hydrocarbon. The separation membrane includes a porous support and a porous separation layer disposed on the porous support and containing an MFI-type zeolite. In an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained through X-ray diffraction measurement of the porous separation layer, the intensities of diffraction peaks attributed to specific MFI-type zeolite crystal planes satisfy specific relationships.
