    Abstract: The invention relates to a lighting device (6) having a light mixing element (1) with a light inlet surface (2) and a light outlet surface (3); multiple light sources (5, 5'), the primary light (P) of which can be emitted onto the light inlet surface (2); a wavelength conversion device (8, 9) with a support (9) on which a luminescent volume (8) is arranged that can be illuminated by means of primary light (P) emitted from the light outlet surface (3); and at least one outcoupling optical unit (10) for shaping a useful light (P, S) emitted from the wavelength conversion device (8, 9), said outcoupling optical unit having at least one non-imaging safety region (11). The multiple light sources (5, 5') emit the primary light (P) at an angle (ß) onto the light inlet surface (2), and the at least one safety region (11) assumes a position on the outcoupling optical unit (10), said position corresponding to a region (M2) with a high intensity of the primary light (P) when the luminescent volume (8) is removed. The lighting device (6) can be used in particular on a vehicle lighting device, in particular a headlight.
